An excuse to stay indoors.

What is Scene 75 Entertainment center?

United states of America have quite a few indoor entertainment centers. But what exactly are those? They are usually big warehouses with tons of arcade games, laser tag, go karts and other fun things to do indoors.

The two most famous indoor entertainment centers are called Chuck E cheese’s and Dave and Busters, but they are not that good. The best one I have been to so far, is called Scene 75, and feel free to read more about my experience there below.

The exterior of Scene 75 is lit up brightly at night.

Last time I went there, Scene 75 was already full of Christmas decorations.

How to get there and best times to visit Scene 75

In Ohio, you can find Scene 75at three different locations - in Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus. The one that is situated the closest to me, is the one in Dayton. Well, a short drive out of Dayton, to be precise. You can find this Scene 75 on 6196 Poe Avenue.

A good thing about Scene 75 is that it is open late at night. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays,  but on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, they are open from 11 in the morning to 10 at night, and on Fridays and Saturdays, they are open from 11 in the morning to 1 at night. Pretty cool, huh?

I have visited Scene 75 more than ten times in the last year, and from my experience, there are no good or bad times to go simply because that place is so big that even if there is a lot of people, they will be divided throughout the area. I literally never had to wait in line for anything so far. Days that attract the most people, are of course the weekends, but, like I said, any time you visit is fine.

One of the first games you will see upon entering Scene 75 is this one.

Before you play

All the games and other things you can do at Scene 75, cost money. Of course, nothing is free these days. You do not have to pay the admission fee, but the first time you go there, you get a reloadable games card, where you can deposit money and when you want to play a certain game, you simply swipe the card. The machine will tell you how much a game costs and how much you have left on the card.

You can keep the card and just reload it whenever you need to. There are several machines, located throughout the place, where you can do so, and you can also check your card and ticket balance on them. You can also reload the card at the front desk, whatever is more convenient for you.

Arcade and claw games

Scene 75 has hundreds of awesome games, and some of them are straight from my childhood. They have a Pac Man game, an air hockey Pac Man, air hockey for four people, skee ball, carnival - style ball throwing games (the best one is definitely Down the clown - but not for the people with fear of clowns, that is for sure), doodle jump on the big screen, dizzy chicken, different levels of basketball games, and many many others.

If you want to feel like you are in college again, but you do not feel like getting drunk, you can play this alcohol - free version of a classic college beer pong game.

Doodle jump is one of my favorite games at Scene 75 entertainment center.

The claw games have a ton of different prizes. Some of them are typical claw games, where it is virtually impossible to win anything, but there are a few of them where you are almost guaranteed to win a prize.

You can win plush toys, candy, stress balls, gift cards, electronics, and the best ones - Scene 75 tickets. The amount of these tickets that you can win varies, but they usually come in thousands, and I have seen a lot of people win on that one. I have not tried yet so I cannot say how hard it is.

Pro tip: aim for the prizes that are the closest to the exit. If you aim for the ones at the far end, there is almost no chance that the prize will make it to the exit, even if you manage to grab it with the claw.

Inflatable course, spinning bumper cars and mechanical bull

For some actual exercise, you can try one of those awesome ‘games’. The first one is a giant inflatable slide with an obstacle course. I tried it and it feels almost like a roller coaster - simply because it is so tall. The inflatable obstacle course is a different story - it is pretty hard to get over all the obstacles. But it is hilarious.

The spinning bumper cars are amazing. Just a friendly warning - do not try them if you had a few drinks before - the spinning can be nauseating even without drinking! These spinning bumper cars are not your regular bumper cars - they are round and they will spin uncontrollably. Seriously, you and your friends will love this - imagine aiming at someone’s bumper car, just to be twisted around just before you hit it. How fun does that sound? You will be dizzy, but happy.

Riding a mechanical bull is always fun - until you fall off of it. This mechanical bull has ten speeds, and you can either pick the speed you want before riding, or, for more adventurous souls, trust the ride operator. Usually, when someone rides the mechanical bull, a lot of people will come to watch and cheer the rider. It can be both uplifting and distracting. And the longer you stay on, the higher the prize you win will be.

Virtual reality experience and gaming

If you have never tried the virtual reality experience, this is your chance to do so without having to buy extremely expensive virtual reality headsets. And what is even better, is the fact that you can choose from two different experiences. The first experience is virtual reality gaming, where you can play your favorite games with your friends in a whole new dimension, and they have a lot of different games that you can choose from.

The second experience is the virtual motion theater. The virtual motion theater is actually one big video game and it will make you feel like you are in the game! Again, there are multiple games you can choose from, and after trying this experience, your favorite video game you play at home will never be the same anymore.

But how about the price? Do not worry, both experiences are much cheaper than you might think. The virtual reality gaming will cost you twelve dollars for twenty minutes of playing.

Not too much, considering that a good virtual reality headset can cost over a thousand dollars. The virtual motion theater will cost you five dollars for thirty minutes or eight dollars for one hour. The one hour option might seem like a much better deal, but believe me, the thirty minute option is more than enough.

Laser beams game

Have you ever fantasized about robbing a bank just for the sake of trying not to break the laser beams? Well, this fun game is your chance to do so without risking being sent to jail if you get caught. This game is basically just a dark room, filled with laser beams. So what is your job? You have to get to the other side of the room without breaking (too many) laser beams, push the button, and then go all the way back. Sounds easy? It is, if you are secretly a ninja. For more fun, ask a friend or two to join you.

The game has four difficulty levels - easy, medium, hard and extreme. And even the easy one is hard. I wish I knew that before deciding to try the extreme option on the very first time I tried that game! And another thing I love about this game is the music. I do not want to spoil everything - go and try!

Once you are done with the game, do not forget to check your high score - the machine at the entrance will print a paper that will tell you fun facts, such as how many laser beams you broke.

Mini golf

This is not an ordinary mini golf. Well, the ordinary part of it is that the course has eighteen holes. And the extraordinary part? This mini golf is played under black lights, making the course glow in the dark. Looks pretty cool, but my eyes start to hurt after ten holes. But nevertheless, this game is super fun.

Bowling

If you get bored after playing all those games at Scene 75, you can play more ordinary games, such as bowling. They have eight bowling lanes, and they are usually empty, simply because people prefer to play other games. They also have a volleyball court there.

Go karts

As unbelievable as it might sound, Scene 75 has an indoor go kart track. You can either drive a one seat or two seat go kart. The price for one seater is eight dollars, and the price for two seater is ten dollars (for both people!). the go karts do not go very fast, but the turns are sharp and the experience can actually be quite thrilling. Just make sure you pay attention to the signs and signals, and try not to cut other go kart drivers off with sharp turns. Because, even if the go karts are not fast, the crashes can still hurt.

Food and drinks

Scene 75 also offers food and drinks, and they are reasonably priced. There are two food and drink stations at Scene 75. If you wish to drink alcohol, you have to show your ID at the front desk to prove you are 21 years old or more, and they will give you a special bracelet. If you are thirsty, try the blue ICEE slushy. It quenches the thirst and it is delicious.

Redeeming the tickets

When you swipe the card at the beginning of each game, the machine will remember the card and deposit the earned tickets on it at the end of each game you play. At the end of the day, you can go to the front desk and redeem the earned tickets for cool prizes.

The more you play, the more tickets you earn, and the higher value prizes you can choose. Some of the higher value prizes include signed jerseys and helmets from famous American football players, electronics (even virtual reality headsets) and even TVs. The bottom prizes include candy and kitschy items, such as key chains and stuffed animals. You can redeem your tickets on the same day, or you can save them up for bigger prizes.

A few words for the end…

If you are looking for something to do on a rainy day, Scene 75 is a great place to do so. Situated just a short drive out of Dayton, it will provide hours and hours of entertainment.
