Saturday Marketday.

I love markets.

Cape Town gives home to several food, vintage and other kind of markets. The Neighbourgoods market, situated in Woodstocks Old Biscuit Mill, is one of them. Every Saturday from 9H00 till 14H00, you can enjoy live music while munching on some delicious food after having bought the prettiest dress from one of the local designers.

They house "local farmers, fine-food purveyors, organic merchants, bakers and distributors, grocers, mongers, butchers, artisan producers, celebrated local chefs, and micro enterprises". So even when you go with picky friends, I'm sure each and every one of them will find something they like.

The food market is housed in a in an old warehouse, which gives the whole thing a nice vibe. If you want a place to sit, better come early. The market tends to get quite packed since it's so popular with both locals and tourists.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the Old Biscuit mill. The chocolate museum for example offers some great tasters. Or have a look at The Test Kitchen, number 48 on the list of world’s best restaurants in 2014. Apart from the lovely stalls situated in the middle of the venue, there are some quite nice permanent stores from local designers that are worth visiting.

Oh! And if you, just like me, lost your heart to this beautiful country, go find the Steffany Roup Jewellery stall. They sell the cutest hangers shaped in the form of the African continent, finished with a small heart-shaped hole right there where South Africa lies. It's the ultimate souvenir to take home after an awesome exchange in the motherland.

Crabcakes, the market is closing and you don't feel like going home yet? Just find your way up to the first floor and play a game of HintHunt, an escape game. Now that's a Saturday well spent!

Some nice trivia: The organizers of this market are also behind the lunch place 'Superette' situated in the Woodstock Exchange building. This one is open every day of the week and serves delicious fair products, for more info feel free to read my review and click here.
