Mzoli's Meat
Feast & Party at Mzoli's
Mzoli's started in 2003 as small butcher selling meat from a garage. It however didn't take long for the place to become one of the most popular hotspots in Cape Town. The public varies from young people, to families and even international celebrities like Jamie Oliver had their fair share of meat in there.
When you arrive at Mzoli's, you're in the center of a township called Gugulethu. First, you'll have to buy your meat from the counter, they weigh, you pay. Then you'll have to bring your meat to one of the 8 giant ovens that are situated in the back. Just leave your meat with the braaiers and come back after 30 minutes.
In the meantime, you should go and find a spot on the 'terrace' outside. Buy one of the glasses, created from cut bottles and have drink. Bring your own booze if you like. Mzoli's doesn't have a liquor license so you won't be able to buy it there. Although some of the vendors nearby might sell drinks like beer. You should also keep in mind that it's a meat place, so if you want extra veggies or some sweets for after dinner. Just bring it and don't forget your dancing shoes because after 2PM this eatery turns into a real club. Local DJ's show of their skills and those beats are quite catchy.
Weekends tend to be popular, so come early and enjoy!
PS. They don’t have cutlery so be ready to dig in ;)
