The typical dishes of Cosenza
What are the typical dishes of the city of Cosenza?
The first one to spring to mind has got to be pasta alla Giancaleone - pasta in a creamy tomato sauce with pancetta. You can find the recipe on my blog.
Second, I think of cuddrurialli - a type of fried doughnut which can be sweet or savoury and filled with any number of delights!
If we are thinking about sweet things, however, I would recommend you try the pitta ‘mbigliata. It is a sweet pastry which is made with several liqueurs and dried fruit, and which is made with care over several days. It is totally worth the wait for such an irresistible and indescribable flavour such as this!
