Italian sponge cake with yogurt
This delicious cake is extremely easy to make yourself!
It’s got a light, fluffy texture, similar to a sponge cake, but with a few key changes which make it even more special.
Try it for yourself!
Ingredients:
- 12 egg yolks
- 200g sugar
- 1 natural yogurt
- 1 orange
- 140g self raising flour
- 6 egg whites
- butter (for greasing the cake tin)
Method
- Pre-heat the oven to 180ºC
- Thoroughly mix the yolks with the sugar.
- Add the yogurt and pour in the zest of the orange.
- Beat egg whites into soft peaks.
- Slowly add the flour and beaten egg whites to the yogurt and sugar mix.
- Add the batter to a greased cake tin and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until done.
- Allow the cake to cool and enjoy!
