What is it like to live in Los Ángeles? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I lived in Koreatown when I was young. I appreciate everything about the city including the good and the bad. Transportation is pretty good as there are the bus and subway systems but there are also cheap transportation services like Uber for those places that are more difficult to get to on public transit. The weather is nice all of the time; it doesn't get too cold or hot though I have heard the weather has been getting warmer and more humid. I grew up in a diverse neighbourhood with people from all over the world. There are so many experiences available in places like Koreatown that harbours, not only Koreans, but people from Central America, the Pacific islands, etc.

Although my family and I were poor, I was able to participate in a multitude of extracurricular activities including gymnastics, ballet, softball, Korean fan dancing, and orchestra. There are plenty of inexpensive opportunities offered through churches, schools and other institutions and organizations. L. A. can certainly be a place of opportunity and growth but one needs to be open-minded.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

There is an overabundance of food and a vast diversity in the types of food available to your taste buds. There are places with lower sanitation which makes the food terrible to your body and mind. It's important to check restaurant grades and internet reviews before entering any of them. I enjoyed different types of foods, my favourite being Korean bbq and Salvadoran pupusas. During my time in L. A., I tasted Hawaiian, Filipino, Vietnamese, Ecuadoran, Iranian, Indian, etc. This includes both home cooking and from a business. The food is just another small reason to make friends with many different people.

What places would you recommend visiting in Los Ángeles?

I would recommend strolling around Koreatown, Chinatown, Little Tokyo and Placita Olvera. These places contain many shops and restaurants that are quite amazing and will immerse you in different cultures. Chinatown's Spring Festival is absolutely awesome and something to see at least once. Placita Olvera always has performers from different cultural backgrounds that include indigenous dances and Spanish folk music.

Downtown L. A. is another great place to get a feel for what the city is and has a number of cheap shops for fabric, clothes and anything else. No matter where you are in California, the beach is always a wonder to experience.

Is it good to eat out in Los Ángeles? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Hae Jong Chon is a Korean bbq restaurant and their happy hour is a really good deal for the amount of dishes you can get. Pang Kum Tuh Village Bakery on Wilshire Blvd has delicious pastries but there are also other bakeries in Koreatown that sell amazing pastries. Snow LA Shavery sells shaved ice that already has flavor in it and you can put toppings on it. It's pretty great. My family would usually have take-out from Yoshinoya and Wok Master (this place has the best fried noodles I have ever had).

Is the nightlife good in Los Ángeles? Where is good to go?

Many places are open late so there is freedom in when one can go out to eat or watch a movie. My family and our friends would go out to eat at restaurants late at night different times of the week, but usually on the weekends. My knowledge about LA's nightlife is quite limited since I was a child when I lived there.
