  • Getting to Krakow by bus
  • Krakow’s main bus station (Dworzec Autobusowy) is situated close to the city centre and right next to the main train station (Dworzec Główny). The small building has two floors with access to the train station and the shopping centre. Those travelling to Krakow will find taxis nearby on both the upper and lower floors. Krakow’s main bus station operates hundreds of national and international routes every day, so thanks to many different bus companies, Krakow can be reached from each European city.

  • Getting to Krakow by train
  • Krakow’s main train station (Dworzec Główny) is located at the north-east edge of the Old Town, within a short walking distance of most Old Town attractions. On an average day some 660 trains run its 12 tracks. Krakow Glowny train station operates both nationally and internationally. There are trains to Budapest, Prague, Vienna, Berlin, to name a few. So if you decide to take the train to come to Krakow, you can relax and enjoy the ride!

You can reach Krakow by taking one of the international highways. It is also a great way to take more luggage with you, if you’re not the best at packing!

  • Getting to Krakow by plane
  • Arriving in Krakow generally means travelling by plane and landing at one of these two airports: Krakow Balice or Katowice Pyrzowice. Today you can fly low cost directly to Krakow from many European countries. Thanks to this, Krakow is one of the most accessible cities in Poland.

How to get to and from Krakow Airport - Balice

This airport is located not far from the centre of Krakow, around 17 km away. In order to get to/from Krakow Balice, all you need to do is to take a bus or a train. Both will take you right into the city centre and to the train station.

By train

It leaves right from the airport building, so you don’t even have to leave the building. The ride takes around 15-20 minutes and you can buy the ticket directly on the train, at the station (in a ticket machine) or from the ticket inspector. A one-way ticket will cost you 8 zloty (2 euros) and the train leaves every 30 minutes. Don't forget to check the timetable, it is available in Polish, English, German and Russian.

By bus

There are two buses which go to the city: 208 and 252, and one night line: 902. The ride takes a little longer than the train, around 40 up to 45 minutes and it is a good option if your hotel or hostel is not located in the centre or if you need to take another bus to get to your location. One way ride costs 4 zloty (1 euro). Make sure that you buy the I+II Agglomeration ticket. You can buy your ticket on the bus, at the bus stop or from the bus driver. Visit the official website to see timetables (available in Polish, English and German).

By taxi

If you’re travelling with friends or family, you may want to use the Krakow Airport Taxi service with taxis waiting just outside the terminal entrances. It is an official airport service that offers a set price range of 69 - 89 zloty (20 - 25 euros) from the airport to the Old Town. However, it is advisable to confirm the price before getting in.

How to get to and from Katowice Airport - Pyrzowice

This airport is located in Katowice city, some 100 km from Krakow. In order to get to Krakow city centre you just have to take the shuttle bus right in front of the airport. You can buy your ticket online (the company “Matuszek” is synchronised with airport air traffic) or from the bus driver (it might cost you 5 extra zloty). One way ticket costs 44 zloty (around 11 euros) and it takes around 45 min up to 1 hour to get to Krakow.
