What is it like to live in Queretaro? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It's a really calm small town, far from all of Mexico's problems and with a rich culture and style. Most people are polite and friendly, you can make tons of friends there.

What is the student lifestyle like in Queretaro?

There are good schools both private and public, with a wide variety of fields to study. Great libraries and also cultural places like museums and galleries. The Autonomous University has workshops for almost anything you can imagine.

How much does it cost to live in Queretaro?

It's not expensive, but not cheap either. You should look for a part-time job and there are plenty of opportunities, and if a week you find yourself low in money you can do your groceries in the local "central de abastos" where you'll find everything cheaper.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Queretaro? Is there any advice you can give?

Downtown Queretaro is hard, most of the people that live there are old families that won't give the family house to a stranger, but 10 min out you'll find many affordable, accessible places.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

In Queretaro you can find from traditional tamales to McDonalds (I don't recomend it unless you are sensible to mexican food). In the old part, downtown, you can find "gorditas" with different dishes, delicious (you can ask for one that has only cheese and is not spicy)

What places would you recommend visiting in Queretaro?

Bernal, Acqueduct, Plaza de Armas, Jardín Zenea and El Mesón de los Cómicos de la Legua (outdoors, old-style theatre)

Is it good to eat out in Queretaro? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Traditional food almost everynight in Garibaldi. Amazing and wide variety of gastronomical opportunities, you cant afford not to go eat out.

Is the nightlife good in Queretaro? Where is good to go?

Couple of good clubs, lots of small bars, good for all tastes in music and partying. Dancing, karaoke, watching sports or just play some pool.

What advice would you give future students heading to Queretaro?

Have an open mind and make friends.
