What is it like to live in Queretaro? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Querétaro is one of the best cities to live in Mexico, the best part of the city is it's colourful city centre, it is full of life and activities, you can do a variety of things while enjoying the colonial architecture and its remarkable gastronomy, you will feel best at the heart of Querétaro. In the surrounding areas of Querétaro you can enjoy a trip into the nature, la Sierra Gorda Queretana is definitely worth a visit, here you can find mountains, thermal waters, colonial architecture such as haciendas and also a great local gastronomy.
What is the student lifestyle like in Queretaro?
Student life is very satisfying, I studied at Tecnológico de Monterrey and it is a great university for locals and international students, they offer a wide range of extracurricular activities and trips to make you feel like home.
How much does it cost to live in Queretaro?
Querétaro is growing very fast and it has become an expensive city to live in, housing and food can be very expensive compared to other Mexican cities.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Queretaro? Is there any advice you can give?
You can find groups on Facebook that are meant for students coming to Querétaro, there you can find a lot of opportunities.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
There are several good restaurants in Querétaro, lately a bunch of them have been opened and they offer good food, such as Fiume, La Sirena Gorda, Cocono, Roots, Josefa, Il Duomo etc. if you want local traditional food you can find some in the city centre or walking through local markets.
What places would you recommend visiting in Queretaro?
City Centre and surrounding areas :Sierra Gorda (Puente de Dios, castillo de Edwars James, Mineral de Pozos, Real de Catorce) San Miguel de Allende.
Is it good to eat out in Queretaro? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
For local food it is good to eat at local markets such as El tepetate or La Cruz, if you want something more fancy but still local you need just to walk through downtown (Chucho el Roto, Cenaduría Blas, La Grupa, María y su Bici, Tikua).
Is the nightlife good in Queretaro? Where is good to go?
nightclubs are constantly changing and/or in renovation, so while you are here there may be one or two good nightclubs. A really old and cool place to visit is a tipical bar called La Selva Taurina, there are several bars around the city but the best are the ones in El Centro and in Universidad.
What advice would you give future students heading to Queretaro?
Look up for planned trips around Queretaro.
