As I arrive in America and I discover what is going to be my home for the next eleven months, I meet an Italian guy biking with his daughter. As we say hello, my host dad tells me that this man is our neighbor and that he owns an Italian restaurant in town. He actually owns a couple more, but they are elsewhere in the area. "I have got to go there", I think to myself. Well, I end up going more than once over the months and I also bring friends. One of them is also from the same region as the owner: Puglia.
(On the left, there is my friend, who flew from Salt Lake City to visit me in Greeley and Denver, so I brought him to have some Italian food with me and see if he would like it, he also likes cooking).
Everything I tasted at Pellegrini's was good and it was also nice to be able to speak in Italian with my neighbor, who also had Italian TV channels at home. I did not find an opportunity to go there and chat with him because if it was not me it was him who was busy. But back to the important stuff, the restaurant has a very Italian look, with a fireplace that looks fantastic, especially for those cold winter dinners. Apart from pasta and other kinds of entrees, they also make pizza - which if I remember correctly is discounted on Mondays.

The other restaurant he owns is in Fort Morgan, so he commutes almost every day from Greeley to Fort Morgan to keep everything organized and in place. I heard that he was now planning on opening a third restaurant somewhere in Northern Colorado, but I am not sure that is going to happen.
What is good about this place is that it is run by a "real" Italian and it's not a place like Olive Garden.
