I am particularly connected to this place because it is the first one I have been to in America (if we do not count the stop we made at Wendy’s when we were traveling from the airport to our home).

My first dinner was out with a guy who was going on exchange from Greeley to Belgium and his parents. “Chris, you will like this place. Very American”. As we enter I cannot fail to notice all the shells of peanuts set aside on the corner. This looked strange, but it turned out it was normal. There were huge containers with peanuts and people could eat them while waiting for their tables to be ready and just throw the rest on the floor. Alright.
(This is me on the left, and my friend on the right).
We sit down and I get asked what I want to drink. I do not know. Coke? “No Chris, try something different. Do you have Dr. Pepper in Italy? No? Here, try it. You can also order more, you just pay once and they refill it”. You either like or hate Dr. Pepper, and I liked it. It was a different soda than just the regular coke I was used to. My American dad orders raspberry tea, I take a sip and I love it, much more than the soft-drink. Next time, team tea. We are not even at the best part yet because what was excellent was the bacon cheeseburger I got. I do not know if it was just because it was my first hamburger in America or because it was actually good, but I adored it. I was in the USA eating burgers.

The company was excellent and after a couple of hours, or even less actually, as a stereotypical Italian I feel like falling asleep. "Abbiocco". I felt full but I am pretty sure that jet lag also played a big part in this. My American mom notices my eyes slowly closing and urged everyone to get the bill and call it a night.

It was actually seven in the evening, we had dinner pretty early (thank goodness). Funny enough, as soon as I arrived home I was not that tired anymore, as usual. But I started thinking back on my first day in Colorado and all the fun I already had. Texas Roadhouse was a fun and a very American way to start off my study abroad period.
(Low-quality picture, but this is what it looks like from the outside).
Throughout the year I came back to this place because I had good memories, and because of course, my American family liked it. The service is amazing and the staff is also very nice. This time I wanted to contain myself and eat something less heavy than a hamburger, to my choice was a Ceasar Salad, which turned out to be a huge plate with not only salad in it but meat and dressing. No complaints though, it was good.
