For my internship abroad I am currently living in Tenerife at the Canary islands and will stay until February. So there is no snow for me that winter.

Plans for the last weeks As I only had three more weeks to work and afterwards ten days of holidays I had to start making plans about what to do and see before I would return to Germany. As I didn't want to do everything alone I talked about some possible things with...

Enjoying the last weeks in Paradise Relaxed Morning Even if I couldn't wait until I would finally be able to return to Germany the 10th of February, I tried to enjoy that place as much as possible during my last weeks. I knew that I would miss that place sooner than I...

  • The After-Christmas-Depression

Zero Motivation for Work The first day after christmas I had to go to work wasn't easy. Already in the morning when my alarm started to tell me that it was time to get up I didn't feel any motivation. I was just tired and every single part of myself was crying for more...

  • More Visitors from Germany

The next day I had taken my last remaining holiday because a friend of mine had come to Tenerife to pass New Year there. As I had gone to Germany, it was the last day we could see each other and I was really looking forward to that. She was on holiday with her boyfriend...

  • Hello...ehm Goodbye again - back to Tenerife

The night was short and after only 4,5 hours the alarm set for 6:30 started to ring. I felt like I hadn’t slept at all, and furthermore, I didn’t want to leave. But I didn’t have a choice, there was a flight at 11:30 waiting for me and when I looked out of the...

  • First Snow

She was. We had breakfast together the next morning and everything was normal. I was really happy about that because I hate all these discussions and the feeling that I was hurting everybody and doing everything wrong. Furthermore, I didn’t want to leave her in...

  • The Discussion

The day after the gala was quiet, as always. Due to the fact that I didn’t sleep in my bed I could not sleep very long, so I went into the kitchen to make a coffee. Surprisingly, I met my Dad and his girlfriend there already – I had thought that they would still...

  • New Year's Eve Gala

The beginning of the big New Year’s Eve Gala came nearer, and so my Dad and I switched off the TV and started to get ready, too. I had waited such a long time to wear that dress now that I was happy to see myself in the mirror with my curled hair, the dress, makeup...

  • Christmas Stress II

The next day I woke up much too early, but on the uncomfortable sofa-bed of my Mum I couldn’t sleep well. She was already awake and in the kitchen, and prepared a small breakfast for me. She was happy because I would pass the whole day and half of the next day with...

  • Christmas Stress

So after having met everybody of my family and my best friend, I stayed at my Dad’s place, because he had picked me up from my best friend the day before, and I would go shopping with his girlfriend the next day. So in the evening we watched some TV and went to bed...

  • Christmas Celebrations

The next day it was time for presents. Because my Mum and my Dad aren't living together I had to get up early to have lunch with my Mum and go to my Dad afterwards. Fortunately they are living in the same village. So I got up and had a short breakfast with my Mum - I...

  • Flying home for Christmas

The next day it was finally the 25th of December! As it was a national holiday buses were driving like on Sundays - something quite annoying, because the only bus that wasn't going that day was the one I would have liked to take. So I had to go 2 hours earlier and...

  • Christmas at the Beach

After the crazy birthday party on Saturday I was happy that there was a relaxing Sunday waiting for me. I slept in, had breakfast in my bed and watched some crapy TV series about renovating houses, buying houses, mariages and wedding dresses. In Spanish TV you will...

  • Birthday Craziness

As already mentioned in the post before, the 20th of December was another girl's birthday. As activities were one of the most important things for her, she had planned a lot of things just to celebrate her special day. In the beginning she only wanted to go to a...

  • Christmas Lunchtime

The more I was looking forward to Christmas, the more boring work became. It was horrific! At the end of November everybody had told us that December would be the most stressful month, as we would only work until the 23rd. So we had already done a lot of work before the...

  • Where are ll the Christmas Markets?

As we had not had so much success in La Laguna with looking for Christmas presents, the other intern and I wanted to see if Tenerife has to offer some nice Christmas Markets. We asked some colleagues where to go and one told us that there was a market in Santa Cruz in...

In November it was the time of the “Noches en blanco” – events where the whole city is celebrating the whole night with concerts, markets and workshops. It’s not only something existing in Spain, I also know it from France as “Nuit blanche”, but the one in...

  • Christmas Shopping

The following weeks were the hardest week of my stay in Tenerife. Because of the happenings in Paris in November and my boyfriend who told me that he will probably not be in Paris during New Year I had booked a flight to Germany for Christmas. It was a pity, because I...

  • Paragliding - Flying above the Island

Even if we were ready for take-off, we still had to wait for the wind. At almost 3000 metres it was changing almost every 5 minutes and for the departure we needed wind from a certain direction - towards us. While we were waiting, completely ready for departure, I...

  • Two Attempts for Paragliding

After my diving experience I started to forget a bit about how much I was missing my boyfriend. But, of course, I missed him so much and I really wanted him to be back. But as I couldn't change anything about that I focused on the things I could change. I tried to do...
