Vegan brownie
Vegan brownie: how to make it
In this article I am going to share with my mother’s recipe for a vegan brownie which, believe me, is so much more delicious than an usual brownie. In Romania, during the fasting period, which also happens to be now, this kind of brownie is baked very often. The recipe doesn’t require many ingredients or exceptional cooking skills, thus anybody can make it, including a student.
What ingredients do you need
The following ingredients are for a 25 per 35 centimeters baking tray. For the doughyou will need:
-
200 grams of sugar
-
½ jar of jam ( you can use any time of jam that you prefer )
-
2 packets of vanilla sugar
-
1 little bottle of rum essence
-
100 ml of vegetable oil
-
500 grams of white flour
-
100grams of margarine
-
50 grams of cocoa
-
200 ml of oat milk ( you can use any type of plant milk )
-
200 ml of sprinkled water
-
2 tablespoons of baking powder
For making the glaze you will need:
-
100 grams of vegan chocolate
-
50 ml of oat milk
How to prepare the brownie in easy steps
The first step is simple, you just have to take a large bowl and add in it the sugar, the jam, all of the essences and the cocoa. Melt the margarine and pour it over the ingredients alongside with the vegetable oil. Mix everything together very well. Then add up the oat milk and the mineral water too. Mix to combine. In the end you have to pour the white flour with the baking powder. Gather all of the ingredients and combine them until a soft dough forms.
The baking tray is lined with baking paper and slightly oiled. The brownie composition is poured in the tray and baked at 180-200 Celsius degrees for about 40 to 45 minutes. During this time, keep an eye on the brownie so it will not get burned. We don’t want that.
The sweet glaze
While the brownie is in the oven, you can prepare the glaze which is actually very simple to make. You just have to melt the vegan chocolate tablet with the oat milk and mix it together until the glaze is formed.
When the brownie is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a little before pouring the chocolate glaze over it. And pretty much this is it. An optional but recommended step is to also put coconut flakes over the glaze. The vegan brownie is ready to eat and is so damn delicious. Yam!
