Strawberry trifle recipe
Hello everyone, today I want to share my recipe with you that is a strawberry trifle or something like that. It’s kind of my recipe, well, I can’t say that I invented this strawberry trifle, of course not, but I haven’t seen that recipe somewhere else.
Well, you know, strawberries are great with everything. You can eat them raw, with sugar, in salads, with other fruit or even vegetables, in dishes, in desserts and so on and so forth and they are full of vitamins and, in general, they are really, really good! So, whenever you have a chance to eat strawberries, just eat them! They are even great for weight loss and if you are on a diet then you must definitely eat them!
So, now you can find strawberries everywhere! Every place is red and when you get closer to it, you see that there are many strawberries there that you can’t resist not buying them. And they are really delicious, too. Well, today I was shopping for goods and noticed that there were pretty huge strawberries in one spot and it said they were from Kakheti region _ that is in eastern Georgia. And I was kind of surprised, where in Kakheti they grew such huge strawberries, because I’ve seen many strawberries from Kakheti, especially from Gurjaani, but I haven’t seen something like that. I thought I would buy them, but then decided not to, because I thought they wouldn’t be that delicious and I just bought those ones that I already knew that they would be tasty. Strawberries are not very expensive now, they cost from about 2 Laris to 3. 5 Laris, it depends on the size and taste of the strawberries, I guess. And, well, of course, the quality. Some of them are of really poor quality, I mean, they are small and not very fresh or damaged or something, you know.
So, about the recipe.
Ingredients:
- Water 2 litres;
- All-purpose flour, 12 tbs;
- Granulated sugar 14 tbs;
- Unsalted butter or margarine 130 grams;
- Vanilla 4 packages;
- Cacao powder (optional);
- Strawberries;
- Biscuit.
Preparation process:
Well, the trifle itself needs more cream than the strawberries or some biscuits, if you ask me. So, for me, personally, cream is the main thing here. So, I started the strawberry trifle with preparing some cream. I just love this cream. It is soft and cool and light and kind of gives you a fresh feeling while eating it, I don’t know why, but it certainly does, and whoever has tasted it, they say that it really amazes them.
The first thing I did was to bring 2 litres of water to a boil, and, while one saucepan wouldn’t be quite good for 2 litres of water, I poured 1 litre to two saucepans and so I poured 1 litre in each of them, so I thought that would be easier for preparing my cream porridge. Until the water boiled, I prepared the next thing, which then I would incorporate in water. That was 7 tbs sugar with 6 tbs all-purpose flour. I mixed them well in a bowl and then it was time for the water to boil, and it boiled and then I took 2 cups of this boiling water and poured it into my dry mixture in the bowl and whisked it so that everything would mix together well. And then I poured this mixture in the saucepan and stirred. I did the same thing with another saucepan and then it was stirring time! You should stir and stir so that the mixture won’t get precipitated on the floor of the saucepan and get burned. And when it gets burned, it has this specific smell and taste and no one likes that, so in fact, your cream is just worthless. So, remember to stir! Well, I counted and, I guess, it took almost an hour to prepare this cream porridge, so, you should consider the timing! I just turned the gas off when the consistency was just what I wanted. And you should know, that it kind of gets thicker when it gets cold.
So, I had two saucepans full of cream porridge, all I had to do is to wait for them to get cold, or I could just put them in the refrigerator and cool them, you know. So I did that. And until then I went to the market to get some other things. Well, I was not in a hurry, so the cream could wait. Mainly what I needed was some margarine for the cream, so I bought this margarine called Ona Cream, I really like it, it’s kind of sweet and just great for this cream. And the margarine should be on a room temperature, so the very first thing that I bought was that, because they usually keep it in the refrigerators and while I walked in another stores buying some stuff, it would get warmer and by the time I reached home, it would be just on a room temperature and I wouldn’t have to wait for it to get warm and stuff like that.
When I came home, I took my cream out of the refrigerator, let it warm up a little bit for some time, so that it would be almost on a room temperature or so and then I started preparing this heavy cream or whipped cream, but I don’t think it’s a whipped cream, so I just call it heavy cream. Well, the first thing here was to take something like about 130 grams of margarine, put it into a bowl of a standing mixer and turn it on, so that the margarine would be whisked until it got a soft consistency and a white colour. When it was ready, I took a tablespoon of cream porridge and added to the margarine with the mixer mixing them together and I did that until all the porridge was mixed with the margarine. I also added 4 vanilla packages, so that it would have a great taste.
Now, I wanted to have two types of heavy cream. I just love cocoa cream with that cacao powder in it and stuff, so I divided my heavy cream into two parts and I added something about 40 grams of cacao powder to one half of the cream and mixed it well. I tasted it and it was good, so that was it, the cream was ready and I could move on to the next steps, which were slicing the biscuit and strawberries and placing them into layers with the cream in between them.
Well, I had those medium sized strawberries bought, so they were really pretty when cut into 4 parts. I mean, two of them were of course the outer parts, which I decided to put in the middle, where they wouldn’t be seen, and the middle two parts were really beautiful, so they would be in those places, where they were seen and stuff like that, you know. And I had this cocoa biscuit bought, which was in kind of a muffin consistency and really delicious, so I sliced it into 0. 5 centimetre pieces, I guess so that they were easy to deal with and easy to get even softer into that cream and strawberries.
At first, I put some strawberries on the bottom of the bowl, then I put the white cream on them and the biscuits. Then it was time for the chocolate cream and then strawberries again and some cream and biscuits and cream and strawberries and then I put the last chocolate cream and strawberries on it and the white cream and it was done and all I had to do was to decorate it. Well, of course, the decorations were strawberry slices and it all just became so beautiful, that I couldn’t even eat it. Well, I took some pictures, but I don’t think, that it looks the same on the pictures as it was in reality.
There was this little thing, though, I will tell you about it. When I made this cream and had all the other stuff bought, I knew that it wouldn’t fit in that bowl that I had chosen, so, it would be a better choice if I had just put it in another bowl or something like that, but I decided not to and still chose that one. To be honest, I really wanted the whole thing to fit into that bowl, because it has its own lid, too, and it’s really comfortable to put something in it. So, I did that whole thing, I mean, I made those different layers of cream and strawberries and biscuits and did that again and again and then I realized, that it really couldn’t fit in that thing. However, it was too late to change something, so I just put another layer of strawberries and the last layer of white cream and then the decorative strawberries and that was it. But then I saw something that really scared me. The last three layers started moving and I couldn’t really stop it. So, the whole thing that was above the bowl end would come down if I didn’t do anything. So I decided to make some things to come out of the bowl. For that I used strawberries again. They made something like a fence and they did a pretty good job, I can say, so that everything would fit into their places and everything just was fine again! Well, I was pretty satisfied, if you want to know the truth.
So, I put the strawberry trifle in the refrigerator, because I just love it cold and, well, since it had some cream, and it is May now, one should save it in the refrigerator. And, well, it was for my sister, who just loves this kind of trifle and I specially made it for her. She was flying from Germanythat day and when I asked her, she said that she would love to have that strawberry trifle, so it was waiting for her to arrive, I can say.
Now, you are maybe wondering whether she liked the strawberry trifle or not. Well, I must say, that she loved it and I tasted it, too, and it was great. It was so great, that I just couldn’t help myself but to eat. That really is a great treat, especially when it’s summer and, you know, everyone would love it, I guess, especially those who love strawberries and heavy cream. I just love both of them and I could it them all day, I guess, so imagine how great it is to have something like that at home and when you can prepare it at home whenever you want! I just love preparing this thing and whenever I buy strawberries, I can just prepare it in no time and it’s a kind of a pleasure for me, I can say. Maybe some people, like my mother, don’t love eating it, and I don’t know why, but me and my sister love it and we treat ourselves with this strawberry trifle often.
So, just remember, that strawberries are great for your health and if you want something special to treat your family members or friends or just yourself, you can prepare this fancy strawberry trifle, that you will love and just be creative with it. I mean, you can even skip the biscuit part and use just strawberries and heavy cream to prepare the trifle, but biscuits make it more delicious, I guess. Or, maybe I just love those biscuit parts, I don’t know.
