Now, let’s make some pizza, guys!

I can’t say, that I love pizza more than anything, well, I’m more of a meat person, but pizza is great too, especially if it is a really delicious pizza. This is the one I like the most.

So, basically, if you know how to make a perfect dough for pizza, it’s going to be great whatever the topping you may decide. The perfect dough is very simple to make if you just know what ingredients you need, how much and what the steps are. That’s pretty much it!

Ingredients for the dough:

  1. 1 and 1/3 cups of warm water
  2. 2 tsp sugar
  3. One packet of active dry yeast (about 7 grams)
  4. 2 tsp salt
  5. 2 tbs extra-virgin olive oil
  6. 3 ½ cups all purpose flour

First of all, you need to boil some water and then let it cool a little bit. When it’s warm take 1 and 1/3 cups of this warm water and add it in a small bowl. You may want this bowl to be short and large, so that you can sprinkle the sugar and yeast nicely. So, then you sprinkle 1 tsp sugar in the water so that the yeast will have something to “feed” on, and then you sprinkle this one envelope (7 grams, approximately 1 tsp) of active dry yeast over the water. Then you set aside this mixture for about 5 minutes and wait for the yeast to rise.

While waiting, in an oiled bowl, preferably of a standing mixer, as it is easier to do everything, add half of the flour, 1 tsp sugar, 2 tsp salt and 2 tbs olive oil. Stir the yeast in the water to make sure that it’s ready and then add it to the mixture. Mix it for a while, then add the remaining half of the flour and mix it thoroughly (about 10 minutes or so) until its mixed as a whole.

So, here’s a thing now: with this dough, you can either make one large pizza or two not very small sized pizzas. It’s totally up to you and what kind of pizza form you like. I like a pretty large form, so I usually make one huge pizza, but consider also making both types.

Okay, for the large pizza, you will just roll the dough into a ball and get this dough into a not very small oiled bowl and you have to spread some oil on top of dough, too, to make sure that it won’t dry out. Then you put a plastic wrap on the bowl and set it somewhere in a warm place.

Now, if you want to make two pizzas, it’s simple, as you would already have guessed, you will need to cut that dough into two pieces, roll them into two balls and put each piece into oiled bowls and brush their tops with oil, put plastic wraps on each bowl and set aside in a warm place.

You should wait for the dough to double in size. That will happen in about one and a half an hour and when you poke the dough with your finger, it shouldn’t spring back.

Once the dough has doubled its size, you should use it immediately or you can store it in the refrigerator for up to one day!

So, that is our dough for pizza!
