Making Tiramisu the Italian way
Tiramisu is one of the most famous and delicious Italian desserts. It is a coffee-flavoured Italian dessert with a mixture of eggs, sugar, and mascarpone and dark chocolate. The meaning of Tiramisu in Italian is “cheer me up” or as many people would say it is a “wake up” dessert. According to the story, the Tiramisu was created by Venetian confectioner in the middle of the twentieth century in the city of Treviso in the Venetian region. Nowadays, Tiramisu can be found everywhere, but its taste is the best while in Italy!
The ingredients you will need for preparing Tiramisu
- 6 spoons of sugar,
- 2 cups of coffee,
- 1 dark chocolate,
- 1 pack of cocoa powder,
- 1 mini cup with amaretto or rum,
- 1 pack of ladyfingers (savoiardi),
- 6 eggs,
- 600 grams of mascarpone cheese.
How to make Tiramisu step by step
- Prepare coffee and put it in the fridge to cool it a bit or somewhere cold.
- Shred the dark chocolate in pieces and put in the fridge, so that it does not melt.
- Then, divide the egg whites and put them in a bowl. Also, put the egg yolks in another bowl.
- After that, add 3 spoons of sugar in the yolks and beat them for five minutes, until the mixture becomes puffy.
- Add 3 spoons of sugar in the whites and beat them for at least five minutes until the mixture is puffy.
- Then, add half of the mascarpone cheese in the yolks and beat them again until everything is mixed evenly. After that, add the other half of the mascarpone cheese in the whites and beat them.
- Next, put gently the whites in the yolks and mix them gently, from the bottom to the top. When the mixture is even put in the shredded chocolate, so you can make the Tiramisu cream.
- Afterwards, take the coffee and the pack of ladyfingers. Put the cup with amaretto or rum in the coffee and put each ladyfinger in it, one by one in it and then put them in an aluminium cake pot.
- Then, put the cream and then another layer of ladyfingers and do at least two layers of ladyfingers with cream, so your Tiramisu is good.
- Finally, cover the ladyfingers with the cream and spread cocoa powder or chocolate flakes over the Tiramisu. Then, put the cake in the fridge for at least 3 hours before eating it or to the freezer for 2 hours.
How to eat Tiramisu?
Before eating the Tiramisu make sure that it is not so cold, but chill. To better enjoy the Tiramisu prepare some coffee if you are eating it in the afternoon or some wine or liquor. You can also arrange each portion of Tiramisu with some fruits like strawberries or cherries, but this is only according to your liking.
