Donuts

The introduction

Hello everyone, I hope that you are all doing just fine!

In this article I want to tell you about the famous donuts and the recipe of them, however, it’s not that easy to prepare the exact donuts that you might love eating, though you won’t know that until you have tried.

Well, everyone knows about donuts, especially after watching some movies about American policemen and how they usually eat donuts or hotdogs. And everyone knows the famous Dunkin’ Donuts, of course, and it’s been just recently that the Dunkin’ Donuts opened in Georgia and since then, it has been growing very fast, I mean, there are already lots of Dunkin’ Donuts places all over the capital of Georgia and it’s like in every two steps, because there is Dunkin’ Donuts everywhere I go.

To tell you the truth, donuts are like those things, that we call “ponchiki” in Georgia and, well, it’s not a Georgian word, if you want to know the truth, however, everyone knows them with that name and no one tries to call them a different name. I guess, its name would be “Kremiani Puntusha” in Georgian, which would mean “Cake with cream filling” in English, I guess. Anyways, this Ponchiki is always with some cream filling, let it be vanilla cream filling or chocolate cream filling, however, mostly it’s with the vanilla cream filling, while donuts can be without any filling at all. And well, I don’t really like donuts, and I especially don’t like those ones without a cream filling, however, when I tasted my aunt’s donuts, they were pretty cool and I really liked them considering that they didn’t have any cream filling and they were with just chocolate glaze on top of them. So it all depends on how you prepare the donuts, I guess.

Anyways, I asked my aunt about the donuts recipe, because I liked them so much. It turned out that you could prepare the donuts with some different recipes. And here’s one!

Ingredients:

  • Active dry yeast, 2. 5 teaspoon;
  • All-purpose flour, 4 cups;
  • Milk, 300 ml;
  • Water, 100 ml;
  • Oil, 2 tablespoons;
  • Egg yolks, 3;
  • White granulated sugar, 3 tablespoons;
  • Salt, 1 teaspoon;
  • Vanilla.

Preparation process:

  1. You should have some warm water and you should add the yeast to that warm water and let it be like that for about 5 to 10 minutes, until the yeast gets dissolved in the water. You can also add some sugar to it, so that the yeast will be better dissolved in it.
  2. In the meantime, you should take the flour, add the sugar to it and the oil and salt and vanilla. You should also separate the egg yolks from the egg and add them to the mixture. And you should mix the ingredients well together.
  3. After you have mixed everything together, then you should add the milk little by little to the mixture. Beware, that the milk should be room temperature!
  4. You should mix all the things together and after that, you should add the water with the yeast to the mixture and mix them well together, too.
  5. After that, you should add the flour and prepare the dough. You should have a very soft dough and then leave it to have it doubled in size for about an hour. It should be in a warm place and you can even have some blankets on the dough, so that it can be warm.
  6. When the dough is ready, you can roll it out for about 1. 5 cm thickness and then you should have two round shaped things or glasses, so that one of them can be larger and the other one can be smaller and you should cut out some round things from the dough.
  7. You should leave the cutout doughs like that for about 10 to 15 minutes.
  8. In the meantime, you should take a tall large saucepan and pour some oil, so that the oil can cover a couple of donuts.
  9. You should make the oil boiled and once it’s boiling, then you can put the donuts into the boiling oil and cook them like that.
  10. When the donut’s one side is cooked, then you should turn it around and let its second half get cooked.
  11. You should know that it only takes 50 seconds for the donuts to get cooked on each side.
  12. Then, you should have already prepared large place on a table with some paper towel on it, so that when you take the donuts out of the boiling oil and put them on the paper towel, the excess oil will be absorbed by the paper towel and the donuts won’t have that oil taste.
  13. So, you take the cooked donuts out of the saucepan and put them on the paper towel.
  14. When the donuts are cooled down, you can have some glaze on top of them. Or, if you want to have just some sugar powder on them, you can just sprinkle it when you take them out of the saucepan.
  15. If you want to have some chocolate glaze on top of your donuts, you can buy some chocolate syrup in the supermarkets, or you can just prepare the chocolate glaze yourself.
  16. Preparing of the chocolate glaze is pretty easy, you just have to have some 200 grams of black chocolate. And then you add 50 grams of unsalted butter and 50 ml milk to it and you should have the mixture in a saucepan on a very low heat, so that the chocolate can melt slowly. And you should be stirring the whole time. Or you can take one smaller saucepan and have some boiling water in it and then take a larger saucepan, where you will have the chocolate mixture and you can melt the chocolate on that steam of the boiling water in the smaller saucepan. Then you can have that chocolate glaze poured onto the donuts.
  17. Well, you can also have some other things on top of your donuts. If you have the chocolate glaze on them, you can also sprinkle some cracked nuts or chocolate sprinkles or whatever you like, so that they will be more beautiful when you look at them.

Well, that was the donuts recipe without cream filling, and I hope that you won’t find it very difficult to prepare those donuts. And you can prepare them just the way you want with the glaze or whatever and be pretty satisfied with your cooking.
