The introduction

Hello people, I hope, that you are all doing just fine!

In this article I want to tell you about this another recipe, which I didn’t make up, rather, we saw it in a supermarket, where they sell prepared food and dishes and we liked it, so that I prepared it after some time at home and it was pretty good, though it was not that great, as it was in the supermarket, however, it was my first time preparing that dish and, well, I didn’t exactly know the preparation method, of course, because it only says about the ingredients in the supermarket window, so that the preparation process was made up by me and the ingredients was of that supermarket, if you want to know the truth.

Anyways, there’s this Goodwill supermarket in Vake, Chavchavadze avenue in Tbilisi. That is the place in the middle of the avenue, I guess, where there’s this Ilia State University and the Pixel building and it’s a very busy place, if you want to know the truth, and the Goodwill supermarket is located underneath the ground in that underground nearby the bus stop. The thing is, there’s no parking space there and drivers don’t like going there, and that’s why my father always prefers going to Goodwill Saburtalo, rather than there in Vake, however, I like this Goodwill better than the Kavtaradze one (it’s called Goodwill Saburtalo or City Mall and it’s located in Kavtaradze #1 and they have this large parking lot and everything). I think, that they have a better choice in prepared food and dishes in Goodwill Chavchavadze and the bakery is better there, too, if you ask me. I mean, the variety is kind of much , than in the Goodwill Kavtaradze. However, you should know, that the prices are not cheap, I mean, maybe you can say, that Goodwill prices are pretty high comparing to Fresco and Carrefour supermarkets, and maybe even Nikora and Smart supermarkets, too.

Well, this other day, me and my friend went there in Goodwill Vake and when we saw all that dishes and stuff, we decided to have a small lunch and have something to eat. Besides, they had this small café made in the middle of the supermarket, which was really lovely and you could sit there and eat whatever you liked, so that we decided to hang around there and enjoy our visit there. There were all those different dishes there and one couldn’t really decide what to eat, because when you see so many things, you just want to have small bites of all of them, I guess, however, that’s not really possible, because you can’t really tell the consultants to give you one small tablespoon of all those things, so that you have to decide which dish you want to eat.

There was this one dish, which  me and my friend considered interesting, because we had never seen that dish in Goodwill supermarket before, so that we decided to have small amount of it and have a taste of it. It was called  Chinese Roasted Chicken Fillet and it cost 1.30 Laris a 100 grams. So that, it was not that expensive and we could eat it and decide, whether it was good or not, besides, it looked pretty tasty, if you ask me. So , we took something like 200 grams of it, I guess and moved on, because we wanted some other things, too, I mean, there were so many desserts there, that you couldn’t just resist not taking any of them and, well, we stood in front of them for a long time, deciding, what we would eat, and then, finally we decided to take Tiramisu and eat it, because it looked really tasty from the outside. We then went to this café, where we were able to pay for our snacks and we were glad, that we didn’t have to go all the way to the cashier and pay there and then go out and come back inside again. We could even have some plates and fork and knife and everything in that café and, besides, we really liked that croissant, that they had in the café and we took that one, too and it cost 1 Lari or something like that, I guess.  So , we sat there in the café and started tasting our stuff. You know, there were many people inside and there were not enough tables for everyone, of course, and people just waited for others to finish their eating or something like that and some would just go and eat their food outside or somewhere else, I guess. We were lucky to have a free table there, if you want to know the truth.

So, about that salad! It was really good, I must say and my friend liked it so much, that she then went and bought some additional 100 grams of it or so and we ate that, too. It was a light salad and a pleasant one to eat. Which I can’t say about the Tiramisu, which was not as expected, I mean, it was not that soft as it should be and it was not as delicious, as I thought that it would be.

The salad

Well, the salad contained the ingredients, which was pretty reasonable and easy to prepare and buy and everything and it had these fillets of chicken and rice and broccoli and cucumber and that made it even lighter, because, you know, the rice makes dishes dry and stuff like that and you need some other things to make the dish easy to eat.

You know, when I like something in those supermarkets, I mean , the prepared dishes, I always look at those cards, that they have there, telling you what ingredients that dish has, so that this time me and my friend went there to read about the ingredients, too, and it said: “chicken fillet, cucumber, bell peppers, broccoli, salt, ground black pepper, rice, oil, soya sauce, seed mix with sesame seeds.” So that, that was my knowledge about this salad and when I decided to prepare it, I could get all imaginative and stuff using those ingredients and prepare that salad. However, when I decided that, it was kind of late and the weather outside was pretty bad and I didn’t have some of the ingredients at home, however, I still decided to prepare it and have it for dinner or the next day and, well, I would buy the rest of the ingredients the next day or something like that. However, it all went well, because in the evening we still went to the supermarket when my father came home, so that I bought all the necessary things for my salad.

Ingredients:

  • Chicken fillet, 500 grams
  • Cucumber, 1 medium
  • Red bell pepper, 1 medium
  • Broccoli, 1 small head
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • Rice, white, 150 grams
  • Oil
  • Soya sauce
  • Sesame seeds

Preparation process

Well, the preparation process started with chopping chicken fillet into small cubes and putting chicken fillet cubes into my halogen oven on a 200 degrees Celsius for about 15 minutes, I guess. It was pretty well-cooked after some time and, maybe I even let it be in the halogen oven for some other time. You know, you can have multiple things get cooked into this halogen oven, so that while my chicken fillet cubes were being cooked in the oven, I washed the rice and put it in this red cake shape pan, which the manual said, that is a baking form for cakes as well as it’s used for cooking rice, so that I put the rice into this baking form and added some water and put it into the halogen oven underneath the chicken fillet, which were on a high rack in this halogen oven.

While I was waiting for those things to get cooked , I decided to have some other ingredients got ready and stuff. Well, there were these bell peppers and broccoli and cucumber and I needed to wash them thoroughly and chop them for the dish. At first, I thought about steaming the broccoli, you know, they prepare it by putting it into a boiling water for a couple of minutes or even less, however, I was kind of lazy for that and that’s why I put them with the rice into the halogen oven for a minute or so and then I took it out. And those sesame seeds are usually cooked in a pan and I had these raw ones, so that I decided to sprinkle them on those chicken fillet cubes and that way they would get cooked with the fillet and they would be pretty good to taste. And that was a pretty good idea after all, if you ask me.

The thing is, I had to wait for a long time for the rice to absorb all the water and be cooked and ready for my dish. Rather, I would prefer to boil some water and put that rice in it in a saucepan and put it on a gas and cook it like that, because that way, rice would be cooked more quickly than in this halogen oven, I guess. Or, maybe since it was my first time cooking rice in the halogen oven , and, besides, there was this chicken fillet being cooked above it, it could be that thing that made the rice get cooked pretty late, I don’t really know.

Anyways, some time later, I took my chicken fillet cubes out of the halogen oven and I checked the rice to be ready from time to time and, at last, I decided that it was ready and I could get all excited about moving forward in my salad-making thing.

You know, the most important part was all over, I mean, the cooking stuff of rice and chicken. Well, I don’t really love cooking rice, that process is kind of tiring, because it needs some attention and things like that and when cooking on a gas and you put a lid on it, it sometimes gets all boiling and stuff like that and then the water inside gets spilled on the gas and that is just horrible and I just don’t like that, however, what can you do about it? Nothing. And that’s why I decided to cook rice in the halogen oven. That was a pretty good decision in an aspect , that the water wouldn’t get spilled on the gas and it didn’t really need any stirring or things like that. It was just that it took much time getting cooked, than I actually expected. But it could have been some other factors, that made it get cooked kind of late, I guess.

Anyways, now that I had those two ingredients all ready and cooked and other ingredients washed and chopped, I could all combine together and cook together a little bit, I mean, in a frying pan, however, maybe that was not even necessary after all those things, but since I didn’t exactly know the preparation process of that supermarket chef, I went to my experience and got rice cooked on a frying pan adding other ingredients to it step by step, and, I guess, it was a good decision.

So, I usually have some oil on a frying pan and then added this rice to it little by little , occasionally stirring, so that all the rice will get a good taste of that oil. While the rice being cooked, I added some salt and black pepper and soya sauce to it, so that the rice would become  a little bit tastier. Then I had these thinly chopped cucumbers and bell peppers added to the rice and stirred and stirred, so that everything would get cooked nicely. You know, I like my  dishes to have bell peppers, because they have lots of vitamin C and they are healthy and good and, besides, they give some special taste to the dishes. However, my brother doesn’t like them and whenever there’s a bell pepper in a dish, he just doesn’t eat that dish, except for pizza. Well, the bell peppers in the pizza are on top of it, so that when he sees them, he just takes them and throws them, so that he won’t have to eat them with that pizza slice.

Anyways, after adding those things, I had to add some broccoli to the mixture and then those chicken fillet cubes with sesame seeds. So, every ingredient now was in that frying pan getting all cooked and stuff and it had an amazing smell, I must say. Well, I added some more soya sauce so that the dish would be more juicy or whatever and I cooked it for a couple of minutes more and then decided that the dish was ready and I could turn the gas off and wait for it to get cold, so that I could eat it. Well, to be honest, I had to taste it until then, of course, to see whether it needed anything to be added or if there was something more than enough and things like that, and it kind of lacked some salt, so that I added some of it to the dish and that was it. Now I could take it into a container or some glass storage thing and put it in the refrigerator and wait for every ingredient to assemble as one and then I could eat it and see what the taste was like and whether it resembled that supermarket one or not.

 I also told  my friend about that. Well, to be honest, she had this picture of those ingredients of the salad, which I asked her to make when we were in that Goodwill supermarket the other day and I told her that I would try to prepare the dish and then tell her about it and whether it would be good or not, so that she could prepare it, too, because she really liked the taste of it there. So that, I told her about it until I started preparing the dish and she sent that picture of ingredients so that I could prepare the dish.

Well, to tell you the truth, I couldn’t really wait for the next day and though it was kind of late, I mean, it was something like 9 in the evening or so, I took my Chinese Roasted Chicken Fillet from the refrigerator and took some of it and tasted it and, well, it really tasted good and those broccoli and cucumber and bell pepper parts made the dish easy to eat and very light comparing to the rice and fillet part. So that it was all just perfect, and the soya sauce made its taste kind of special, too, I mean, I’ve never used soya sauce in my dishes and it was the first time that I ever used it in it and what’s more, it was the first time I ever bought the soya sauce, so I didn’t even know which one to buy and there were many types of it in the supermarket. There were some Georgian stuff and some others, too, and finally me and my father decided to buy the one, which said that the production country was China, because I was preparing fillets in Chinese, so that we could have Chinese soya sauce, too. It was a pretty good decision, if you want to know the truth, because that soya sauce tasted pretty good, though I can’t compare it with any other soya sauce, because I haven’t tasted any others elsewhere or ever.

My father tasted my salad dish later that day and he said, that it tasted pretty good, I mean, those ingredients were really well combined and then it seemed like everything was assembled as one and the dish had its own taste then and it was all delicious and stuff. Besides, he loves chicken, so that those chicken fillets were pretty much what he liked in the dish, too, I guess.

Anyways, the dish is really good and one should really try it, besides, it’s not that hard to prepare it and it comes out pretty much because of the rice and the other ingredients are really healthy and good for our body and mind and it’s something, that everyone can prepare. Maybe you can even skip the rice part and just prepare some salad with those other ingredients! That’s the new salad recipe, I guess, which I’m going to try out. I guess, it will be even lighter and easy and, besides, the ingredients will be for weight loss and I could really use that one for my diet. You know, cucumbers and chicken fillet and broccoli and bell peppers _ these are all foods, that you can eat if you want to lose some weight and those combined together with sesame seeds and some soya sauce, seems like a delicious weight loss salad, which anyone can prepare and eat with pleasure!

Preparation process shortly

So, this is the short version of preparation process for this dish and how to do everything. You know, if you don’t want to read all that information about the preparation process, you can just read this paragraph and get an idea about the whole thing and stuff like that.

Well, first of all you should look at those ingredients and decide whether you have all the ingredients or not and then think about preparing the dish.

First of all, you should prepare the chicken fillets, they need to be cooked and you can cut them into small cubes and put them into the halogen oven and cook them. In the meantime, you should cook the rice, too. For that , you need to put rice into a saucepan and add some water, so that the water is double the amount of the rice.

Then you prepare broccoli. You now, it only needs to be put in a boiling water for a minute or so. Well, then you just need to chop the bell pepper and cucumber and put them into a frying pan and cook them in oil for a while. Then you should and the rice and chicken fillets and season them with salt and add the black pepper and sesame seeds and soya sauce. After cooking for a couple of minutes, you should turn the gas off and take the salad into a bowl and add those broccoli pieces and mix everything and that’s it. You can put it in a refrigerator and let it sit there for some time for the ingredients to get all together like the whole dish and to get all delicious and stuff.

So, that’s the shortest version of preparing this dish and I hope, that it’s helpful and I hope, that you will prepare this dish and be pretty satisfied with it being all healthy and nourishing and light to eat and easy to prepare. And, besides, it doesn’t really cost much and is pretty large portion, if you want to know the truth, so that it’s not just for one or two persons, if you are wondering.
