Buckwheat
The introduction
Hello everyone, I hope, that you all are just fine.
Now I want to tell you about this great food or whatever you can call it, which is called the buckwheat and which is a great thing for everyone.
Buckwheat is a different food , if you ask me. It’s like an oatmeal, but kind of different, too, at the same time. And it has lots of vitamins in it and can be a benefit for your body. You have to eat some buckwheat from time to time and, well, it also regulates your body metabolism, if you want to know the truth. It’s a dietary product and doctors often subscribe buckwheat to people with problems of gastrointestinal tract or weight problems or whatever.
How I ate buckwheat in my childhood
Well, I really love buckwheat, if you want to know the truth, it’s like my traditional dish, that I used to eat every day, I guess. It’s something, that is pretty easy to prepare and it’s really satietary when you eat it. You only need buckwheat and some water to prepare the buckwheat and that’s it. You don’t really need anything else. Of course, you can add some other things to it, however, the main ingredients are these and you can prepare buckwheat with just those stuff, if you want to know the truth.
Well, I used to prepare it almost every day, I guess, while studying at school. You know, I’m was not really a great cook and that was the easiest thing to prepare. I either prepared a fried egg or this buckwheat.
So, when my mother prepared buckwheat, it was a regular buckwheat, however, then, after the water was all absorbed by the buckwheat, she would add some oil to the buckwheat and cook a little longer. After that, we could eat it.
You know, we used to eat buckwheat with sugar on top of it and we just loved it very much. Now when I tell people, that I used to eat buckwheat with sugar, they just get surprised and have this reaction on it, that you get, that they are kind of shocked about it. I mean, there hasn’t been just one person, who ate buckwheat with sugar in their childhood or now or whatever. Well, there was this one girl, who told my sister, that she had eaten buckwheat with sugar and it was good and she liked it. Besides this one, we haven’t met anyone with that kind of experience, you know.
Well, if you haven’t tried boiled buckwheat with sugar, then you should definitely taste it, because it’s like a great dessert with less calories and good taste. It’s really recommended by me, because you should definitely try this one. My brother especially loved buckwheat, if you want to know the truth, and, well, he always used to pour much sugar on it and then he would eat it.
Well, to tell you the truth, eating buckwheat with sugar is pretty cool, I mean, it’s really delicious and stuff like that and, besides, it’s pretty nourishing that way and you can eat it and be satisfied.
Boiling buckwheat
So, as I’ve already mentioned above, preparing this buckwheat is really easy, and it is ready in just some minutes, so that you don’t really need to do much things about it. and almost every sauce or whatever goes well with it, so that you can have many things eaten with this buckwheat.
First of all, let me tell you about this boiling process. Well, you need to take some buckwheat, but not too much, because when it absorbs the water it becomes like doubled or tripled and so that it’s plenty of it, if you want to know the truth. So, whenever you are preparing the buckwheat, remember to consider this fact, as it’s quite frustrating, when you prepare so much of something and there’s no one to eat it, so that then you have to take it to trash or something like that. And I really don’t like that.
Anyways, you just take a little bit of buckwheat, wash it and then put it in a saucepan. Then you add water to it so that the water is double of that buckwheat amount, so that the buckwheat can absorb water and get doubled or whatever. You should put the saucepan on a medium gas and let it boil for some time, occasionally stirring, and it should absorb all the water, or , if you don’t want to, you can boil it for some time and then spill the remaining water out. Then, you can either eat that buckwheat like that or just add some oil and cook it a little bit and then eat it like that. I guess, the oiled cooked buckwheat is a little bit more delicious, than the watery one.
So what can you do with the buckwheat? You can do many things with it, if you want to know the truth.
First of all, there are so many diets about buckwheat and eating it and stuff like that. You know, when people want to lose weight, they know these buckwheat diets and they eat boiled buckwheat and stuff like that. It’s not that bad, if you want to know the truth. I mean, I haven’t tried it, but since I’ve eaten buckwheat and it’s not very bad at taste or things like that, you can really eat it the whole day, I guess. You know, there are these diets, which include eating buckwheat the whole day without anything, or just with Matsoni or yoghurt and people do that and they eat just these things the whole day. I can’t really imagine what it’s like to eat just buckwheat and Matsoni or something like that the whole day, however, I guess, it’s bearable, I mean, there may be actual people who don’t have anything else and they just eat boiled buckwheat the whole day, you know. well, some people need to eat buckwheat in the morning as breakfast and then eat some other things the whole day for their diet plan. Some time ago, this buckwheat diet became very popular in Georgia, because one of the politicians was not that slim and he wanted to lose weight and he actually lost much weight, so that everyone was shocked and wanted to know how he lost these kilogrammes, so that then he told people about his buckwheat diet and everyone just got on that diet, I guess. It’s popular nowadays, too. However, some have results, some not really much. I guess, it all depends on your body and the organism itself, because everyone’s individual and stuff like that.
Cutlets with buckwheat
Well, there are those cutlets prepared from buckwheat and they are fasting cutlets and when people fast they eat those cutlets and they are pretty popular in those days, if you want to know the truth and many supermarkets have those cutlets in prepared food division, where you can buy many different things.
I remember that we used to prepare those kinds of cutlets when we were at school and we had these lessons in workshops or something like that, I guess, you could call them workshops. It was called work lessons in Georgian , if you want to know the truth. They were pretty amusing, because we were there and we had to prepare some food and sew some stuff and make some crafts and stuff like that and we had to take the ingredients from home and other things , too, and, well, the lessons were pretty boring for everyone, if you want to know the truth, because it was at the end of the school day and we were all tired and we were all hungry and didn’t want another lesson about those stuff and, besides, we didn’t really want to have some meals prepared there, because we could just go home and have something good at home, you know. or we could just buy something on our way home and there were some good bakeries along the roadnearby our school, and well, we even had this canteen, where you could buy some tasty fast food and they didn’t cost much, too, so that, we had all those opportunities of eating somewhere else besides these lessons and we just hated sitting there for another 45 minutes!
Anyways, I remember, once we had some bread and buckwheat and we had some flour and some oil and that was it. well, the bread was ground in a machine and buckwheat was boiled and we just mixed them together and rolled it in some flour and then we put a frying pan with oil on a gas to get hot. Meanwhile, we made some small balls from that buckwheat and bread and put them into the frying pan to get them cooked. I don’t really remember their taste then, however, I can say, that they are not that bad, I mean, if you season them and add some spices, too, you can have some great cutlets. Some people even add some cooked rice to them and some onions and some fresh herbs, you know, like the usual cutlets. Some even add some eggs and those eggs are good for the cutlets, because they prevent cutlets from spreading out, I mean, the eggs help the buckwheat and bread to stick together while being cooked. Well, to be honest, the more things you add to the cutlets, the more delicious they will be, I guess. However, it all depends on the type you want them to be, because there are not much things to add to them if you want to have fasting cutlets.
Well, there’s this one recipe and you just need some buckwheat and rice cooked, some onions and coriander and parsley and salt and pepper and flour. You should ground all those ingredients except for the flour in a machine and mix them together and roll them into the flour and then cook them in a frying pan with some oil.
You know, you can add some boiled potatoes to the boiled buckwheat and bread and ground them in a machine and then make some balls and roll them into the flour and then cook them. I guess, that’s the best fasting cutlets for anyone, because that way _ by adding some boiled potatoes _ they become really delicious and nourishing, too. Besides, the buckwheat itself can be pretty nourishing, if you ask me. So, you can have some good cutlets for yourself while fasting. And they won’t cost you much, too, because potatoes are really cheap, not to mention the buckwheat and the bread, too. And besides, you don’t need much amounts of them, so that you can have plenty of those cutlets in just a couple of Laris and by that I mean, you can have everything for up to 5 Laris or even less! So that , that’s really great, if you ask me, and that’s one of the main reasons to prepare them when you don’t have much money, or if you don’t want to spend much money to buy some food and things like that, so that you can have those cutlets and spare much money and , at the same time, not be hungry or something, because as I’ve already mentioned above, those cutlets can be pretty nourishing. Well, you know, potatoes can be really nourishing in any dish, and while they are kind of easy to grow and stuff like that, many people have them planted in Georgia and in other countries, too, I guess, and they are sold in pretty cheap prices, too, I mean, they don’t even cost 1 Lari in Georgiaand you can buy them anywhere and they are really tasty , if you want to know the truth.
