Bread bowl of Prawn Curry

Ingredients for 3 people:

  • 1 Onion.
  • 3 tablespoons oil.
  • 1 tablespoon of butter.
  • 2 tablespoons of plain flour.
  • 1 teaspoon of curry.
  • 1 teaspoon of salt.
  • ½ teaspoon of pepper.
  • 2 cloves.
  • 1 cup of water.
  • 2 pounds of prawns.
  • 2 lemons.
  • 1 glass of white wine.

Preparation:

Wash the prawns well and peal them. Use a knife to cut them in half to take out the vein that gets into the refractory. Add salt pepper and the juice of the two lemons. Set this aside.

Now peal and cut the onion in quarters. Put them in a pan with three tablespoons of hot oil and leave them there until they turn brown. Add a glass of white wine, two cloves, a teaspoon of curry and two tablespoons of flour before diluting it with the cup of water. Mix this consistently with a wooden spoon to avoid it sticking until it thickens. Grate the rind of the two lemons and add it to the mixture with a spoonful of butter.

Now, take the prawns, drain off the excess liquid and add them to the sauce and continue cooking this for 3 minutes. Taste it to see if it needs any more salt and pepper and then it is done. You have to remember to take out the two cloves before serving.

To serve, take a large round bread, cut the top of the bread as if it is a lid. Using your fingers, take out the inside of the bread leaving a space to pour about a quarter of the prawn curry into. Do so successfully until it makes 4 breads in total.

Note: Only fill the pan just before you are going to eat, because the sauce will dampen the bread.
