Beef and radishes salad recipe

Hello people, I hope that you are all doing just fine!
In this article I want to tell you about this recipe, that we have been using for quite some time and me and my brother love this one very much and we always wait for it to be prepared, however, it’s not prepared in our family very often and I don’t think, that it’s prepared in other places pretty often, too, either. Well, it was a very popular salad some time ago, I think, however, nowadays I haven’t seen it that often anywhere, if you want to know the truth.
You know, people used to prepare this salad on great occasions and that’s how we know about it, I guess. My mother used to prepare it then at home and we were pretty happy when we had this dish. Well, the preparation process was kind of hard back then , if you want to know the truth, because you had to do everything on your own and after that your hands and fingernails were in a bad shape, of course, and it took some time to prepare all those things like beef and herbs and everything, however, there are only some ingredients in that salad.
Ingredients:
- 1 kilogramme beef
- 0.5 kilogramme radish
- 50 grams fresh coriander
- 3 medium onions
- Salt to taste
- Red pepper to taste
- Ground coriander
- Thyme
- 500 ml mayonnaise
Preparation process
So, as I’ve told you, the ingredients are not much and some people just use beef, radish, mayonnaise and coriander and onions and salt, of course. However, I usually have some spices in my salad, too, and it’s that I’ve learned from my mother, if you want to know the truth. She usually has some spices in her dishes and I really like that and I have spices in my dishes, too, hence.
Well, the preparation process nowadays is not that hard, because I have some utilities, which help me have everything simplified and that’s one of the reasons why I like preparing this salad, because when you do something easily, it becomes your favourite thing to do, I guess, or at least, one of your favorites, because you can do it without any much effort and you just take some pleasure in preparing it. I hate those things, when you have to kind of kill yourself preparing some dish and then it may not even be just like you wanted and you may get very disappointed in yourself and things like that, you know. it’s just really upsetting, when you are trying to prepare something and it all just comes out pretty bad or not like you anticipated. That’s really frustrating. This other day, my sister was baking this cake called “Datunia” and she usually prepares it very well, however, this time it was not that great as other times. And while I watched her preparing it, she was all careful and very attentive and she wanted it to be perfect, however, it didn’t come out as good as she wanted it to be and she was very upset about that, of course, because we were all waiting for this cake, and it’s like our traditional cake or something like that, which is just prepared on important occasions, such as New Year and on my brother’s birthday and things like that, so that it’s really something that we look forward to having. However, this time it was not as good as it is other times. You know, me and my brother just love this cake and, well, maybe he loves this cake even more than me and he can have all the cake eaten in some minutes, if you want to know the truth. He can have so much of that cake, that you can’t even imagine and that’s why I don’t really let him have the whole cake, because I love it, too.
Anyways, back to our beef salad!
First of all, what I do is to buy some good beef, which is not very fatty or something like that. The beef should be lean and nothing else, because you just need lean beef for that salad and if it has some fat, let it be like that, however, when it’s all cooked and ready for the salad, you won’t need that fat anymore and you should separate that fat and lean beef and just use that lean beef in salad without any fat.
So, when you buy this lean beef, you should cut it into some smaller pieces and wash them thoroughly and prepare them for cooking. You know, you can cut them into smaller pieces, however, they should not be very small, I mean, I usually cut them into about 5 cm cubes or something like that and I cook them in water until they are pretty soft and well-cooked. They shouldn’t be too small, if you ask me, and if you have some large pieces, that’s okay, too, because large is better than the small ones, however, they will need kind of more time to get cooked, than the smaller ones, if you want to know the truth. Well, I cut them into smaller pieces and wash them and put them into a saucepan and fill it up with water so that the water covers the beef pieces and put the saucepan on a high gas for the water to get boiled quickly. After boiling, you can change the water, I mean, you can spill the water out and fill the saucepan with fresh water from the tap and then put it on a gas again. Then you can just leave the beef alone and let it get boiled and cooked. You can even add some salt and spices and onions and herbs, if you want to. That gives the beef and the stock some great taste and, besides, you may even not want to spill that stock, since it will be all seasoned and stuff and you can have it as a meal, that’s what’s great about that. Well, mainly, that’s what I do, because the stock is pretty good and while the beef is boiling, I season it with salt, because I like the beef to have some taste of salt until it’s all done and finished cooking,
I also add some ground thyme and coriander to the stock and this coriander gives it pretty good taste, if you ask me, I also chop some onions and add them to the dish and, of course, some red pepper _ let it be ground or fresh. You know, if you add some fresh herbs, like coriander or parsley to the dish at the end, it will give the stock some pretty great taste and I usually do that after I see that the beef is ready and it’s ready when it’s all soft and stuff like that, you know. I like the beef pieces to be very soft, so that they can be split very easily and that’s why I like them to be cut into pretty small pieces, so that they will get cooked faster and they will be easier to handle, too.
Well, while the beef is getting ready, you can prepare some other ingredients for the dish, such as the radishes and herbs and onions. You know, I hate getting those herbs prepared and, well, chopping onions is a horrible thing, too. Those two things are the ones I hate so much, however, it’s like a necessary and important thing to do when preparing dishes mostly. To be honest, everyone tries not to do that themselves, but to have someone do that, however, that doesn’t always come out great and so that one has to do it herself.
First of all, I prepare those radishes, I mean, they need to be cut on both sides and then I cut some other sides, where there’s some dirt or something like that and then I wash them thoroughly and then they are done. After that, I peel the onions and wash them, of course and then there are herbs _ those fresh corianders. It’s better if you choose just the leaves of those corianders, however, that takes much time, so that I cut them just so that the leaves have the most part of that piece. Then I wash them, too, of course and then they are ready for chopping and shredding and whatsoever.
You know, back in those days people really had some horrible time preparing this dish, if you ask me, because there weren’t all these machines, that simplify our lives daily and they had to use mainly their hands and knives to chop some things and stuff like that and I remember we loved doing those things, however, we weren’t aloud to do them, because of that simple reason _ we could hurt ourselves by doing those chopping or shredding and the elders knew that, of course , and they wouldn’t let us do any of that. Moreover, they didn’t even leet us nearby those stuff sometimes. That made us angry and frustrated and we just wanted to have something done by ourselves and sometimes they let us do a little thing, I guess, which made us so happy that we didn’t think about anything else and we would either continue doing that, or just leave everything and be happy somewhere else. That was a big achievement for us at that time, if you want to know the truth, so that we could really enjoy our participation in the food preparation process.
So, the thing was, there was this shredder thing or whatsoever and you should move those radishes on it with your hands, so that those radishes would get shredded and this procedure was pretty bad, because, you don’t realize then, but later when you look at your hands, they are pretty damaged, too. Well, chopping onions and herbs with a knife is not that bad after all, if you ask me, but it’s still not that pleasing procedure, of course, especially if you have many of them to chop.
Well, it’s great, that there are all those utilities, which you can use and have them as a simplifiers of your life. One of them is this chopper-blender that I have and it’s really cute and helps me a lot. Well, to tell you the truth, it’s my sister’s. and she uses it all the time and it’s pretty good, I mean, you can shop whatever you want and shred whatever you want and even blend things and everything is just easier that way. So that, we chop our onions in that chopper-blender and we chop our herbs in it, too and just in some seconds everything is ready. You know, my sister used to shred the radishes on that shredder that I told you about, however, this other day she tried shredding the radishes in her chopper-blender and it just came out pretty good, I mean, it was really great and she won so much time and effort and she didn’t even have her hands hurt or something like that. So that it was all great and everything was ready by the time the beef got ready, so we could just wait for the beef to get ready and then we could assemble the dish.
So, when the beef gets ready, you can get the lean parts and wait for them to get cold or something like that and then you can put them into that chopper-blender and kind of shred them or something like that, you know, it just makes those beef parts very well and it’s like you don’t even need to do anything else on your own. The thing, why people don’t usually do that dish is because of the beef part and when preparing it, it just takes so much time and effort to shred the beef with your hands and then your hands get all bad and stuff , you know, so everyone hates doing that and it’s the main reason for not preparing that dish.
So, we were going to have that beef get cold and then we would just chop it in the chopper and , well, it wouldn’t really chop it, you know, however, it would still get well-divided or whatever you can call it and they would be like small pieces of lean meat, which would be just great. Until that, we went to shopping, if you want to know the truth, and, my mother was at home waiting for us and while waiting for us she got thinking about what she could do, I guess, so that she saw this lean beef and thought that she would help us and did all that work herself which was meant to be done by that chopper. When we got home, she told us that the beef was already ready and that we wouldn’t have to bother about shredding it or things like that and when my sister asked how she did it and when we got to know, that she did it on her own with that method, that they used to do that beef some time ago, she just told her, that she could have just put the beef into the chopper-blender and the beef would have been ready in just a couple of seconds. That was pretty sad, that she wasted all that time and effort doing that stuff, when she could just have done something else or just sit and relax.
Well, now that the beef was all ready and stuff, there was nothing left, but to assemble the dish. We already had these shredded radishes in a large bowl and then we needed to have these onions cooked and coriander chopped. So, we got those onions chopped into our chopper and had them cooked on an oiled frying pan until they got all golden in colour and everything. We even added some salt and thyme and coriander and black pepper for them to have some great taste. Well, after that we chopped this fresh coriander in a chopper and everything was pretty much ready. So, we added those onions and coriander to the radishes and beef and some thyme and ground coriander and mixed them well and after that we added that mayonnaise and mixed everything. Well, of course, after that you should definitely taste the dish and check whether or not it needs anything or if it has something too much or things like that, you know. So that, after mixing all those stuff together, the dish is ready and it just needs some time for everything to get assembled in one dish.
So, this dish is really delicious one and if you get a little taste of it, you will understand that and you will want to prepare it for yourself or for others, if you ask me. And with all those utilities that are invented, it’s really easy to prepare this dish and, besides , it’s pretty healthy, if you don’t mind the mayonnaise. However, you can change that mayonnaise with sour-cream or cream cheese or some Greek yoghurt and it will be a really healthy dish. You know, maybe you can even add some prepared sauce, I mean, some sauce with cauliflower or broccoli or something like that. I haven’t tried that, but it’s worth a try, I guess.

Preparation process shortly
To sum up, I want to write here the preparation process very shortly, just in case you are too lazy to read all that stuff that I have written in the preparation process above, and, well, when you don’t want to lose any time and when you are wondering, what this recipe might look like and whether you will be able to prepare it or not, you can just read this short version of the preparation process without any disturbances, if you want to know the truth.
So, the first thing you do is to cook some beef in a saucepan _ cut them into medium sized pieces and put them into a saucepan and pour some water so that it’s covered with it and bring the water to a boil and then spill that water and pour in another water into the saucepan and bring it to a boil and let it be like that until the beef is tender and cooked.
Meanwhile, you can wash the radishes and coriander and onions. Then you should shred the radishes and chop the coriander and onions. You should cook the onions on an oiled frying pan until they get golden in colour and at the same time, you can add some salt and spices to them in the pan, stirring occasionally. Well, that way onions get this great and delicious taste and they don’t taste just like onions anymore and that’s what I like about adding those spices and salt to the onions while they are being cooked.
Well, when the beef is ready, you should shred it, too, and for that I have this simple solution, which is called the Chopper-blender, or at least, I call it that way. So, when you put those pieces of beef in it, it will shred the beef just in some seconds with its knife and that’s pretty awesome and then you can take the beef out and put it in a bowl , where you have shredded radishes and add the onions and spices and salt and chopped coriander and mix everything well together. An then, finally, you should add some mayonnaise and mix it well with the other ingredients, too.
That’s the short version of that preparation process, that I wrote above and I hope, that it will be pretty helpful, when you just want to read quickly about the recipe and how it’s prepared.
