The introduction

Hello everyone, I hope that you are all doing just fine.

In this article I want to tell you about this soup recipe, which I decided to prepare the other day and which was just a simple soup, that kind of soup, that I used to eat in my childhood and there were no other fancy things in it, if you want to know the truth and it was just that simple and easy soup prepared by meand it

didn’t even need much time, if you want to know the truth, so that it was pretty much the one, that many people would like, if you ask me, because it’s easy, tasty and fast to prepare.

Well, to be honest, I had caught a flu or something like that and I really wanted to have some soup or something juicy to eat and I remembered, that we had some potatoes at home, that my father had bought the other day and I knew, that he would also like some soup, because he really loves that soup stuff and dishes with stock and everything and I decided to prepare some basic simple soup with potatoes and macaroni, which we used to eat back in those childhood years and which we all liked, if you want to know the truth. So that, I started thinking about those ingredients and stuff like that and it was pretty much easy to think about those ingredients, because some of them were already bought and stored at home and I could use them for the recipe and there were some things, that I could buy until I got home, however, they were not really necessary for that soup, but I wanted to have them in it, so that when I got closer to my home, there is this small market, where you can buy some vegetables and fruits and pickles and dairy products and eggs and other stuff and I hoped, that they would have some bell pepper there and fortunately they had red ones and green ones and I took one red and one green and it all just cost 1.50 laris or something like that and then I even took some parsley, so that the soup would have some pleasant taste of it.

Well, as you see , the ingredients were not much and they didn’t really need much of a preparation, either, so that everything was just supposed to be fine and I would have that soup prepared pretty fast, because I was really hungry and, besides, I wanted to eat some soup sooner, so that I had everything planned, if you want to know the truth.

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes, 4 medium
  • Red bell pepper, 1 medium
  • Green bell pepper, 1 medium
  • Onion, 1 medium
  • Parsley, 20 grams
  • Butter spread, 50 grams
  • Macaroni, 80 grams
  • Water, 2 litres
  • Salt to taste

Preparation process

Well, the preparation process started with the bell peppers.  I washed them and cut them into quarters and then sliced them into small pieces, so that the pieces wouldn’t be long or something like that and they would be just a normal size. Then I also had this onion peeled and washed and chopped into small piecesand I had a large saucepan put on the gas and put the butter spread into it and I added the bell peppers and onions to it. It had this amazing smell of bell peppers when they were being cooked and I just loved the smell, if you want to know the truth. After a couple of minutes, I added some salt to them and let them cook again.

In the meantime, I had those potatoes peeled and cut into smaller pieces into something like cubes and I had them added to the saucepan, too, so that they would get cooked with those bell peppers and onions and they would get some better taste. After a couple of minutes, when the onions got kind of golden in colour, I had this boiling water in a kettle and I added it to the saucepan. Well, I had this water preboiled in the electric kettle and then I boiled another one litre, too, and I also added that to the saucepan, so that the whole amount of juice it was supposed to have was 2 litre of water and that’s because it couldn’t contain any more, you know.  That saucepan can contain up to two litre of water when I cook some things in it. Well, if there’s only just water, it can contain more than two litres, of course, but when there are potatoes or beans or whatever, it’s just two litre of water, that I can add to the dish.

Anyways, I let the water in the saucepan boil and I let it be like that for 5 minutes or so and then I added some macaroni to the dish and stirred. Then I let it be like that for half an hour or so and I also added some salt and then I tasted it. Well, I could say, that it was pretty much ready, I mean, the potatoes were cooked and the macaroni was cooked, too, of course, because the potatoes are the main thing there, when they are cooked, you can say, that the dish is ready, so that you can turn the gas off and everything, you know.

So, when I tasted and saw that the potatoes were cooked, I had this parsley washed and chopped and added to the dish and waited for a minute for the dish to be boiled and then I just turned the gas off and put the lid on the saucepan and let it be like that for some time and then I could eat the dish.

You know, when I looked at it, it looked pretty beautiful and those red and green peppers and the parsley made it look really beautiful, if you want to know the truth and it kind of resembled spring, I guess.

Well, I remember, when my grandmother used to prepare this kind of soup for us, however, it didn’t have those bell peppers and she didn’t really use to add some fresh herbs, either, I guess and it was still very delicious and I mostly loved those potatoes, which were in the soup and I would eat that soup for the sake of those potatoes, I guess.
