How is student life in Ankara?

The administrative character of the city has influenced the style and way of life of the residents. Interpersonal relations are still not very present.

What’s the cost of living in Ankara?

Hardly anything at all. From food to clothes to transport everything is organised to ensure the citizens’ happiness.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Ankara? Do you have any advice to give?

Absolutely not. You are always welcome in all the neighbourhoods and no one refuses you from renting their apartments.

How about food? What are your favourite dishes?

The dishes live up to the statement that ‘Turkish cuisine is one of the best in the world’. And yes, it is. I personally love the kuşbaşılı or even a kebab accompanied with Corba (Turkish lentil soup) or Lahmacun (Turkish pizza). Basically, there’s an impeccable variety.

Which places must you visit in Ankara?

Contrary to Istanbul, even though it doesn’t have many tourist sites Ankara at least has parks and lakes (such as Mavi Göl etc), the historical sites like Anıtkabir as well as night clubs in lots of places for having a great night out.

No need to drool my friends! In Ankara there’s a restaurant or café every 2 metres. For restaurants they’re everywhere and the cost of the dishes is almost nothing.

How is night life in Ankara? Where should you go?

Kızılay, the city centre. It’s a great place to have a good time. And also like I mentioned above, the parks and tourist sites.

What advice would you give to students who are going to Ankara?

Ankara is a pleasant city, not very populated and quiet, which is an appealing factor for studying there.
