Experience in Winterthur, Switzerland by Balz
What is it like to live in Winterthur? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Winterthur is a nice swiss city. It is not that big than Zurich so nearly everything is in walking distance. Even if you live on the countryside it won't take you longrr than 20 minutes to the university. The public transportation is not cheap bit very reliable than in many other countries. I would definetly recommend the city for studying as the infrastructure is good and the people are nice. You just have to know that it is a very expensive city.
What is the student lifestyle like in Winterthur?
The student lifestyle is not that fat developed as in other countries. Mainly because a lot of the domestic students are working beside the education so they are not really around during the week. So the nightlife is really concentrated on the weekend.
How much does it cost to live in Winterthur?
It costs pretty much. There are a few student accommodations sponsored by big companies but there are also expensive for foreign students. Normally I need about 2'000 Euros a month.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Winterthur? Is there any advice you can give?
As there are not many international students it is possible to find an appropriate accommodation.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
You can nearly eat everything as it is normally today in bigger cities. I prefer to eat a good portion of meat which is excellent in Switzerland.
What places would you recommend visiting in Winterthur?
I would recommend to visit the countryside as it is really beautiful. It is easy to get to all attractions in switzerland by train as it is a small country.
