Erasmus Experience in Winterthur, Switzerland. By Sara.
Why did you choose to go to Winterthur, Switzerland?
Because I love the country and the language.
How long does the scholarship take? How much money do you receive for your life costs?
I receive 420 CHF per month. But it's not enough for living here, you need more.
How is student life in Winterthur?
The university is quite big so there are a lot of students and the ambient is really good.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Winterthur to another students?
The city itself is small and very comfortable. The university is great, I am very happy, but to be truth, it's quite difficult.
Was it difficult to find accommodation in Winterthur?
No, because I already had contacts in there.
How much does it cost to live in Winterthur?
It's not cheap to live in Winterthur and with the scholarship is not enough, because renting a house, transport and purchases are not cheap.
Was the language difficult? Did you attend any language courses from the University?
I already knew the language and I also study it, so I didn't have any problem. On the streets people don't use to speak German, but a dialect (Swiss German) but you can ask the people for speaking with you in German or English, there is no problem.
At the university there are German classes for incomings.
Which is the most economic way of arriving to Winterthur from your city?
I always take the plane.
Which places would you recommend for going out in the night in Winterthur?
My favorite disco is Bolero Club. There are not so many discos, but a lot of pubs. If you want to go to a really nice club, you should go to Zurich located 15 minutes away (train).
And eating out in Granada? Can you tell us about your favourite places?
The restaurant Zur Sonne serves typical Swiss food, they offer 20% discounts for students.
