What is it like to live in Vigo? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

People from San Francisco says that Vigo feels close to them... The hills, the caothic skyline, the warm light, maybe, the enjoyable street life. I don't know.

What is the student lifestyle like in Vigo?

You dont need permanent transportation, you only need strong legs to climb the city and find what you like. The nicest public park is in the top, "El Castro" from where the old town spreads to the harbour. In the middle you have a shopping area, library and public food markets. Vigo has a great relation musicians/population, which means there are concerts everywhere. It could be a great lifestyle.

How much does it cost to live in Vigo?

You probably need 500/600 eu/month to lead a comfortable life, sharing accommodation.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Vigo? Is there any advice you can give?

The best area to live is from the city hall to the sea, and nobody disagrees with this. So it's easy to live and save some money in a less charmful place.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Incredible food, wine and handmade beers. Typical tapas, pulpo, calamares, bocatas, empanada...

What places would you recommend visiting in Vigo?

The best place is the actual bay, but Vigo turns it back. It's fenomenal to visit the Cies natural park or any surroundings like Cangas, Moaña, Baiona... Vigo's got a nice coast area, a beatiful old town and some cool gardens. It has the honor of being the cleanest city in Spain. City hall mantains streets every day.

Is it good to eat out in Vigo? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

If you like traditional food A Regueifa, Nos, especially El Lobo de Mar en Rúa Anguía, it's a nice one. There are many others: vegan option, vinotecas with tapas is a classic. You need to try it at Casco Vello (not only there), where from the evening every 10 metters you can find a cool bar/restaurant.

Is the nightlife good in Vigo? Where is good to go?

There is a mainstream area called Arenal, and Churruca is more indie, reggae, folk and electronic. Live music is always an option at vermut parties or music bars. Normally people starts the night at Casco Vello and moves to Churruca, but the night ends really late at random places.

What advice would you give future students heading to Vigo?

Enjoy life on the street, the sea and the music.
