What is it like to live in Vigo? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Vigo is a quite, small and comfortable city. You have everything you need in the centre streets and the buses that go around the city are good. The weather in summer is hot and in winter it rains ocasionally but it's not too cold.

What is the student lifestyle like in Vigo?

I don't study in Vigo because my campus is in Pontevedra, another city.

I can say that students are really nice and helpful. The environment of the university is very comfortable.

How much does it cost to live in Vigo?

Vigo is not as expensive as other cities of Spain. I could say that is a cheap city. For example, you can rent a flat in the centre for 400euros per month. As well, to do shopping in the supermarket is affordable.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Vigo? Is there any advice you can give?

I'm not really sure about the accommodation that University of Vigo offers to exchange students but I know some Erasmus students that were living in a share flat and they were really happy. As I said before, it's not expensive to rent it and there is a lot of offer.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is really good in Galicia, specially the seafood. Some of our typical meals are: Polbo á feira, Empanada, Caldo gallego, Lacón con grelos, spanish omelette..

As a dessert you can try "filloas", "bica" or "tarta de santiago! " for example.

I recommend being open to new meals and to try as much as you can.

What places would you recommend visiting in Vigo?

I recommend to go to Cíes Island, as they combine the most beautiful beaches of Vigo with a natural environment and sea bed unique in Spain.

As well, in the historical centre you can walk around "Puerta del sol". Here, the most modern art foundations, cultural centres and museums in Vigo are concentrated.

O Castro is a natural luxury that offers the best views of the Vigo estuary and the most beautiful sunsets.

If you want to go shopping, you have some shopping centres but the best shopping street for that is "Príncipe".

Is it good to eat out in Vigo? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

You have a lot of offer depending on what you want to expend or the food you want to eat.

I recommend some bars in the historical centre, here you can eat some "tapas" for a reasonable price. My favourite restaurant in Vigo is a mexican one called "Chilam Balam" located in Ecuador street and the food is really good but it's a bit expensive.

Is the nightlife good in Vigo? Where is good to go?

In my opinion, the nightlife in Vigo is good. People usually go out on fridays although college students also usually go out on thursdays.

I recommend to go to the historical quarter "Casco vello" or "vinos" where you can find a lot of places to eat something and to drink. After that, another part of the town where you can meet many students and familiar people.

If you prefer to go to the disco you can go to "Rouge", "Tokio", "Ferré", they are good to dance for a long time. In general, all the discos close about 6-7 am.
