Why did you choose to go to Vigo, Spain?

In fact, Vigo wasn't my first choice. But because my university had some difficulties with my first choice destination, I had to chose Madrid or Vigo. So I've chosen Vigo, because is near to the ocean, also I thought it won´t be that huge and full of tourists as Madrid. And also I liked the idea to see different part of Spain than the south one, which everybody knows.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

You can stay for one or two semesters, that´s approximately four and half months each of them. From my university I get four hundred euros per month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Vigo?

During day it depends on the faculty you study, because if you have more subject you spend all day on university. The bad thing is, that it takes about half an hour to get there, so even if you start later or have some break, you spend lots of time there. And then, because the group which prepares events for Erasmus students is active, almost every evening there´s a possibility to meet with others somewhere, or is usual to go just with your friends to take few beers. And during weekend there´s party, party and party.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Vigo to other students?

Definitely. The city is beautiful. Of course, it´s in Galicia, so it rains a lot, but still there are lots of great days also. And then there is a lot to do during rain as well. The university is really far from the center, but that´s the only bad think about it. My experience is that professors are opened, friendly and really helpful.

What is the food like?

Food is good. And tapas are the best. But because I am not a fan of sea foods I didn't really try those places, so I looked more for the food that I already know.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Vigo?

Not really, it took me one afternoon. But it was because of the help of ESN guys, so it´s the best to contact them.

How much does it cost to live in Vigo?

Well for me it´s definitely more expensive than to live in my country. The accommodation depends, but about two hundred euros for sure. Then other things I would say about another two hundred, but usually more than that.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The university provides languages courses almost in every common language and in the case of those which a more used there are different levels.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Vigo from your city?

By plane.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Vigo in the future?

Bring an umbrella and a waterproof boots.
