Why did you choose to go to Vigo, Spain?

I wanted to surf in Spain; )

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My scholarship was about 5 months - I got 300 euro per every month of my Erasmus.

What is the student lifestyle like in Vigo?

It's really awesome! ESN Vigo does a really good job! They organized party every week + a lot of beer meetings in the evenings (tapas! ). There were also a lot of things to do besides partying - surfing classes for 2 euro, scubadiving classes for 4 euro, a lot of trips and so on... No time for boredom!

Would you recommend the city and the University of Vigo to other students?

Totally! There are a lot of really nice people who will help you with everything you need! It's not so hard to pass the exams (but you have to study a little bit;) ). University has free tennis courts an tennis rackets for Erasmus people + gym in a good price (35 euro per semester) + swimming pool. There is wifi everywhere at the university. The only disadvantage is that the campus is situated about 40 minutes by bus from the city.

What is the food like?

Delicious, especially tapas! There are plenty of tapas bars where you can eat awesome tortillas, seafod and so on. In my favourite place (don't remember the name; / ) I used to buy dark beer + calamares for 2 euro; )

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Vigo?

University helps with that so it was not so hard; )

How much does it cost to live in Vigo?

Prices per room where about 200 euro + depends how hard you party; P Food has a normal price (you can find good products for really good prices in discount shops like Dia, Alcampo or Eroski). I think it can be about 350 euro per month to live well.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

There are language courses but the price was 50% lower for Erasmus people so it was quite cheap. I knew spanish before so it wasn't hard for me to communicate. It's hard to understand people when they speak "gallego".

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Vigo from your city?

The most economical way from Poland was to go to Madrid with Ryanair by plane and then go by train (about 9 hours but I took the night one so it was not a problem). There are promotion train tickets available since 62 days before the journey - I bought ticket with 60% discount (I payed 20 euro instead of 50).

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Vigo?

Ask ESN - they know everything!

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Vigo?

Every tapas place.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Ask ESN - they know everything!

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Vigo in the future?

Take your passport with you and go to Marrakesh - there are quite chips tickets from Porto!

Find an appartment with heating because it can be really cold there! And prepare to wait for people. Spanish people are never on time! ;P
