Erasmus Experience in Salzburg, Austria by Niels
Why did you choose to go to Salzburg, Austria?
Beautiful surroundings, the mountains. The weather: snow in the winter and sun in the summer. And also to improve my German because they speak German in Salzburg.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
4 months/€435 / month.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Salzburg to other students?
Yes.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Salzburg?
No.
How much does it cost to live in Salzburg?
Monthly rent for a room: €355. Then eating, drinking, playing sports, etc. : minimum €300/month.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?
Yes.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Salzburg from your city?
Depends on the price of the plane tickets. Salzburg has an airport, but I recommend flying to Munich (is cheaper) and then you can take the train from Munich to Salzburg (1 hour).
You can go by car (9 hours driving from Belgium). Train is also a possibility but is quiet expensive.

- Bars near the Salzach (old town).
- Bars in the Gstättengasse.
