Austria - My experience with public transportation. ( Part 2)

Last time I went, I bought a 48hours ticket because in Vienna there are many places to visit, counting again to find the ticket 48hours save more.
When I bought tickets, I was only free to enjoy the 48hours ticket continuously.
Thanks to the modern transportation system, I have almost reached all the must-see places in Vienna.
There are two main networks, the S-Bahn and the U-Bahn (subway), which are convenient, secure, affordable and run continuously. Public transport in Vienna can be listed as follows:

U-Bahn (subway)
Schnellbahn or S-Bahn (city-bound train)
Straßenbahn (tram-train)
Bus (Bus).

Austria - My experience with public transportation. ( Part 2)

Straßenbahns are just behind me!!!!

The vehicles are operated by the Wiener Linien company with a total of five U-Bahn (U-Bahn), 29 Tram lines and 90 lines of bus lines, including 24 lines running at night. Night routes operate from 0.30 am to 5 am.

The S-Bahn has 9 main lines with the most important S7 line because it takes tourists to the airport.

U-Bahn has five lines: U1 (Red), U2 (Purple), U3 (Orange), U4 (Green), U6 (Brown) runs to 1am weekdays and runs 24/24 on weekends and days. pear. Some Metro stations are worth a visit: Schönbrunn station to Schönbrunn Palace (Summer Palace), Taubstummengasse station to Belvedere Palace.

During my visit to Vienna, I was not checked by anyone, the train in Vienna was without barriers, no ticket takers, you just arrived and boarded the train.

Saying this does not mean that you travel free but you still have to buy tickets. Occasionally there will be a sudden check-up if you suspect you will be fined heavily if you do not have a ticket. Smoking is also prohibited at the terminal and on public transport.
In general it is quite risky, if not buy tickets in vienna.

Retail tickets go all the way, and if you go from one point to another you do not necessarily have to go only one vehicle that can combine all three (train, bus and bus). Buy tickets that you want to use validate by putting the green in the train station, bus, tram to scan confirm the journey.
Single (odd) tickets cost € 2.20, if bought on board, the fare is € 2.30

Tickets on 24h: € 7.60
Tickets 48h: € 13.30
Tickets 72h: € 16.50

How to go to Hallstatt

Austria - My experience with public transportation. ( Part 2)

Travelling to Halstatt is kind of adventurous, fun and happy as I have made friends during my time on the 4-night train.

Austria - My experience with public transportation. ( Part 2)

Hallstatt is known as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, but it is not easy to get to the village because you have to take a ferry.

I visited Hallstatt for its uniqueness - hiding in the old forest, which is the typical alpine climate / temperate climate.

In addition, through a Vietnamese TV show called Victory over Fascism: The heroic years 2016, I knew the village and put it in my travel bucket list.

Depart from Vienna: Take the train take 4hours and continue on the ferry.

Ferry at Halstatt - the only way to visit the village beside a lake from the train station.

By train you can depart from Salzburg or Vienna, to Attnang-Puchheim Station and continue to Hallstatt Station.

Step 1: From Salzburg or Vienna -> Attnang-Puchheim: You take the train from Salzburg's central station Hauptbahnhof to Attnang-Puchheim station, then change the REX train (take about 10-15 ') to reach Hallstatt station. Tickets you purchase in advance at the OEBB website - Austrian national ship or cheaper Westbahn, should be purchased as soon as possible.

If you go from Vienna to OEBB, the train runs from 5:30 every day for 30 minutes each, the early booking is € 14, the minute is € 44, and the Westbahn from Vienna costs € 21.5 (One hour / trip).
If you go from Salzburg to OEBB from € 13-59 frequency 1h / trip, put through Westbahn fixed price € 7.5.
Step 2: Attnang-Puchheim -> Hallstatt Bahnhof: The local train from Attnang-Puchheim to Hallstatt Bahnhof takes about 90 minutes and costs € 12.3 and runs many times a day. The Stephanie Ferry (Hallstättersee Schifffahrt) goes to the village of Hallstatt, with a fare of € 2.5 bought on the ferry.

Ferry waiting here to welcome guests from the train down so convenient. Note that the latest train from Attnang-Puchheim to Wien Westbahnhof of Westbahn at 1935 so you keep abreast of the ferry from Hallstatt to Attnang-Puchheim avoid misses.

So if you go from Salzburg the cheapest fare if you go with Westbahn is € 22.3, the OEBB is € 27.8.

To get to Salzburg you can take the train
