First days in Reykjavik

After weeks of anticipated joy it was yesterday at long last go time. In the preceding weeks I have already said a slow goodbye from my friends and family. The four hour long flight literally flew by, since you can watch movies during the flight; )

First days in Reykjavik

The first good news upon arrival in Reykjavik was that both of my two pieces of luggage arrived with the first pieces on the luggage conveyer belt. With the bus it was quick to the city and as came as a pleasant surprise to see that Olafur, the landlord I had rented my room from, awaited me at the bus station.

First days in Reykjavik

He and Birna (his wife) showed me around the small house (truly very small, everything is tiny), and downstairs we were received by Marguerite and her friend Antoine from Toulouse, Marguerite is my roommate. Since they had already been a few days in Reykjavik they showed me around.

I was surprised to find that the stores close by six o'clock around here, but luckily I could join the French for supper! We don't have our own kitchen, but were permitted to use that of our landlords.

Today I went by the University to register myself, explored Reykjavik further so that I was presented with its finest side in the first two days, so that even the Jäggli could change in between.
