Wine experience in Poland
Poland is a country located in central Europe between the sandy coasts of the Baltic Sea and the mountain ranges of Sudety and Karpaty. with a territory with different options to visit and many experiences to offer to each visitor.
As we can understand, there are many reasons to visit Poland such us cities, historical monuments, nature, night-life and so on.
In the recent years, every country has been started to specialize in different section of the tourism industry and one of the most particular area is the wine tourism, there are different countries that have been already positioned in the world as a Wine tourism destination such a France (with with a number from 8 to 10 million enotourists a year), Italy, Australia, Chile, Argentina, etc.
Poland is nowadays an attractive destination for the same kind of tourism, also knows as a “Enotourism” this tourism is based not only in the vineyards but also visiting the attractions that are located in the region, in this way the interaction of this tourism has a huge effect in the residents. Every tourist is
under the necessity to know every new flavor of wine and discovered the process of grapes and of course, participates in celebrations that are related in the region visited.
In the particular case of Poland, we understood that this country has a special geography where the climatic conditions are not identical in the whole country, being the south-west the best place for this activity.
To develop Poland as one “Enotourism” destination there are different strengths and weaknesses that have to be taking into consideration for the good results, for instance we can appreciate the increase in the recent years of wine consumption in Poland and the increased interest in local and regional products. One weaknesses that we can see in Poland is the hight-cost of establishing a vineyard, so in this case it is very important to focus in the actions of the public sector to change this situation an open this market to every kind of potential investor no matter how big or smaller could be.
On the other hand, we understood that Poland created routes inside the country for the enotourism one of this good example is the region of Lubusz where we can find good wines, honey and mead. This tradition of wine has more than 800 years and the documented bee-keeping goes back to the sixteenth century.
In this particular region we can see that vineyards owners are well prepared to receive the whole families during the consumption of the wine including also the visit of some monuments and museums of national importance.
The cultivation of grapevines takes place in one of the most beautiful places in Poland with almost 500 wineries.
As we can see, Poland has a huge potential to continue growing in this sector of tourism, the history and tradition that are involved with the polish wine are good examples from this support, Poland became around the centuries a potential destination of wine and not only Lubusz can be mention as a “Enotourism destination” in Poland but also the city of Zielona Gora that became the capital of Polish wine-making.
We might think that everything is perfect for the growth of the wine tourism in Poland however; there are some threats that are still happened in the country such as interest of foreign investors in production of low-quality wines and competition of the part of foreign wine manufacturers. In this case is important to focus on the potential solutions because the impact over the success of the wine tourism in Poland depends on the action the public and private sectors do to control the factors.
As a conclusion, we can understand the Poland is an eco-tourism destination where it is possible to combine the wine and the exquisite polish gastronomy, it is truth that Poland is well known for its cultural heritage and rich history however Poland is a wine country with many wine regions that we can visit and we can confirm the huge heritage of wine culture that happened over the time in this country.
Wine tourism is an important income for the European countries such a France, and Poland has many strengths and opportunities to being in the short future one leader in this sector not only for the suppliers but also for the growing interest in Polish wines among consumers and mass media.
