What is it like to live in Pécs? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Pécs is a wonderful city, I recommend it for everyone! It's peaceful, but not boring. There are so many entertainment opportunities.

What is the student lifestyle like in Pécs?

Students have an eventful lifestyle in Pécs. There are many clubs and pubs in the city center, and the university organizes several activities for exchange students. For example, the best one is the Night Spa organized by Integro. But there are many cinemas, theaters, concerts and festivals, too (especially gastronomy - wine festivals, that are very cozy).

How much does it cost to live in Pécs?

I think that the life in Pécs is not too expensive. If you live in a flat with some other students, it costs circa 100-200 € depending on quality and location (accomodation in the city center is obviously more expensive).

The food's price is also average, you shouldn't worry. And neither the clubs nor the pubs are expensive. For example, a glass of beer costs circa 1 €.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Pécs? Is there any advice you can give?

In my opinion, it is not difficult to find accommodation. The easiest (and cheapest) solution is living in a dorm. But there are so many flats, too. Due to the law and politics, just a few students come to the university, so several flats become empty. You have a big chance to find a room.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is not so special in Pécs, but you can find some tasty characteristic meals. For example: goulash, stew, pancakes, or honeydew melon with bacon. You can't imagine, but it's very delicious. My favourite ones are the several pottages (especially from yellow peas).

What places would you recommend visiting in Pécs?

In any case, if you are in Pécs, you should visit the TV tower because of the spectacular view; Malomvölgy, Sétatér and Tettye are appropriate for a picnic. If you would like to visit cultural monuments, you should go to the Mathias Temple, the Cella Septichora and the Mosque.

Is it good to eat out in Pécs? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Of course! There are so many restaurants with delicious meals and they're not so expensive. You can find student diners, fast food restaurants, Italian, Chinese, Greek, Turkish, Mexican, Indian restaurants. In the city center I recommend Korhely and Maestro and a little bit farther the Tettye restaurant.

Is the nightlife good in Pécs? Where is good to go?

Nightlife, too, is eventful in Pécs. Every evening, there are many parties in different several places. The most common are - I think - Pécsi Est Café and Sörház. These are the best.

What advice would you give future students heading to Pécs?

Be brave and come! Here the people are kind, so don't worry. Ask for help if you need it.
