What is it like to live in Pecs? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Pécs is a very beautiful city in the southwestern part of Hungary, just right by the Mecsek hill. It's also known as the mediterranean city because of its climate: summer are hot and winter are much warmer than in the others parts of the country. You have every entertainment possibility in Pécs: cinema, library, museums, a big and new concert hall, theatres, restaurants, pubs and clubs, and moreover festivals in the city centre from spring till autumn!
What is the student lifestyle like in Pecs?
Student life is very good in Pécs. There are university parties organized by the faculties every day. There are several pubs in the near of each campus, in the city centre and in the near of the clubs. Faculties organize different programs for the students.
There is ESN at the University of Pécs. It's a student organization which organizes 2-3 programs per week for the Erasmus and exchange students, like Country Presentations every week, on the weekends sightseeing tour, hike tours to the Mecsek, grand tour (2 or 3 days long), wine tasting, etc.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Pecs? Is there any advice you can give?
There is an English speaking company which helps first of all the foreign students to find a flat.
You also can check the Hungarian sites, or ask for a help of a Hungarian person. They are really helpful!
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Hungarian food is spicy - salt, pepper, (hot) paprika, etc. If you are in Hungary, you must try the goulash, pancake, the Hungarian stew with dumplings and our typical alcohol: the pálinka (get it in a nice restaurant or buy the homemade on - these are the real).
What places would you recommend visiting in Pecs?
If you are in Pécs, you should visit the main sights in the centre: the main square with the mosque, the 'wall' with the love locks, the Cella Septichora (old Christian cemetery - found under the city few years ago), the Cathedral, and the Barbakán. TV tower is the symbol of the city (if the weather is nice and there are no clouds, you even can see the Lake Balaton which is almost 200 km far from here). Zsolnay Cultural Quarter was renovated few years ago: it was the factory of the famous Zsolnay Porcelain. There's in the near of it the Kodály Cultural Centre and the main library too.
If you have enough time, you should visit the Villány wine region and go for a wine tasting there - it's just 30 km far from Pécs.

Nice restaurants in the city centre: Replay, Murphy's, Korhely, Elefántos, Kalamáris.
Fast food: Kebap!
Is the nightlife good in Pecs? Where is good to go?
The most popular clubs are Pécsi Est Café, Amper Klub and Sörház. The first two are located in the city centre.
