Paris, a beautiful city in France
Paris, the most beautiful city in the world... :)
I'm going to tell you about my favourite city which I visited in 2010, Paris. In my opinion, Paris is an incredible city, even its smell is captivating... Paris is the capital of France, and situated in the north of the country. It's around a two hour flight from Madrid. I really recommend you visit this city, and it's real shame that people are being put off visiting it due to the recent terror attacks. From the Eiffel Tower to the Monmartre or the Notre Dame, every corner of it is worth seeing.
Paris is a city of fashion, love and art. The trip I went on was an end of studies trip with my French class. Two or three teachers came with us, since there weren't many students to look after. We were very lucky in this class, since in less than two months we went on two trips to two different countries, one to Rome and one to Paris. My favourite was Paris. We visited the city in March, and I remember that the hotel was quite nice. The teachers had made us an itinerary, and since they were so well organised, we had time to see loads of sights - in my opinion, all the important ones. Our trip lasted about seven days. We visited the following sights:
- The Eiffel Tower and its surroundings
- The Louvre Museum
- The Academy
- The Moulin Rouge
- Notre Dame
- Monmartre (quarter)
- Pompidou Centre
- A few cathedrals
- Central leisure centre
My teacher insisted that we all go right to the top of the Eiffel Tower (I had vertigo and it's really hard for me to climb to the top of anything) and I managed it in the end. The truth is that if I hadn't done it, I would really have regretted it, since the views are incredible.
Notre Dame is one of the most beautiful cathedrals I've ever been in. I remember that when we climbed up it, it started to rain heavily and we all got soaked! Up there, you can see the bell from the Hunchback of Notre Dame film. The decoration with the gargoyles is beautiful, and the facade itself is marvellous when you view it from ground level.
Another thing I really enjoyed was our walk through bateau-mouche along the Seine with views of the Eiffel Tower and of the city. At night, the whole city is lit up including the Eiffel Tower and you're able to take fantastic pictures. The Parisian districts are very welcoming. When you're there, you feel like you're in a film, with typical accordion music in the background, women walking past in high heels and the hum of conversation everywhere.
On the other hand, the Louvre Museum is very worth a visit. If you like art, you'll love this museum. The inverted towers from the Davinci Code, the Mona Lisa... a city with lots of art. The city's reputation for fashion and for perfume makes shopping in this city also worthwhile. We went to a Corte Inglés which was like a palace: the only word I can use to describe it is 'luxurious', and that still doesn't do it justice.
We also saw the Moulin Rouge at a distance and the famous wall where 'I love you' is written in lots of different languages.
Generally, I got a very good impression of Paris during my visit and was left really wanting to go back some day.
