Disneyland Paris: Like a big kid

Although established on the outskirts of the city of Paris, I am not coming to talk to you about Paris, but otherwise about Disneyland Paris.

Disneyland Paris: Like a big kid

As much as it may be for children (lie) and full of symbols, signs, objects and people dressed in foam rubber suits, it's a magical place. I never had the fortune or misfortune of going when I was a child, for which I was very excited to be able to go now, being somewhat older.

It was the 12th October 2012 when I was finally able to visit it, on the park's twentieth anniversary. Two classmates and I were in Paris, visiting another who was on Erasmus (ah oui, this great year) and in planning, we decided to reserve a day for the great park. We found a little loophole because there was a promotion for Paris residents. Evidently, we don't reside in Paris but we said that we did. We put our friend's address down and the four of us went to the sweet Disney adventure.

From Paris, it's very easy to get to. There is a direct train. What's more, it wasn't too expensive. When you get there, Disney is only a 10 minute walk away. Disney Studio is joined to it but I don't advise you to visit it because there isn't too much to see.

We were there facing Disney, right when the doors were opening. We were jumping around and everything xD, very geeky. We passed through the rather tough security control and... We were in! Like crazies, we took a zillion maps in a zillion different languages.

And we began our journey. Things were a world apart. We were slapped in the face by pastel colours and kilos of glitter but we were delighted. All of this, designed for consumption and being happy haha. Our first stop was an enchanted house, in front of which we met Jack, from a Nightmare Before Christmas. The madness unleashed itself: four Tim Burton geeks together can't be good. We joined the queue, which was quite short to take a photo with Jack. Everyone else in the queue was a child xD. However, this was so during almost the entire visit.

Another of the stops that really excited us was the Alice in Wonderland zone, where we met the rabbit and two of my friends started following it like two crazies, whilst the rabbit fled. It was very epic.

If you go to Disneyland, my advice is to bring raincoats, at least in Paris because it can start raining at any time. Don't expect too many attractions, because no, for those older there aren't too many but they are great anyhow (although we got on one which was a sort of black roller-coaster that made us very, very dizzy).

To eat, we ate in one of the cheap restaurants (€10 for a hamburger with chips). Here comes the anecdote; because when I ordered the hamburger which was seasoned with a million things, like sauces etc., I asked the waitress to please leave it all off, I just wanted it as it was. So this is what she did: brought me bread with cheese, WITHOUT burger. The look that she left us all with was brutal. We couldn't stop laughing. I managed to intercept a waiter and asked him to please bring me the burger to accompany the cheese.

You can also see my face flipping out when we discovered Mickey in his house because my big hopeful anticipation was to take a photo with him. I even gave him a hug hahahaha. Pathetically adorable! You can also see that we flipped out a lot, making fools of ourselves (hahaha, how bad! My friends are crazy, yes).

Visit Disneyland Paris, even if you're 40 years old because at every age, it's experienced in a different and marvellous manner :D.
