NYC: The city that Never Sleeps

I went to New York city last year. I also missed Seville's famous April fair for this trip but it was worth it. I would do it again for many years more.

New York is a city that you can't see in a week and if you want to enjoy it to the maximum, not even in ten days. Here, you can find any unimaginable service. Everything is in the reach of your hand. However it won't always be in the reach of your pocket unless you're rich. Even so, you can enjoy this city a lot without having millions in the bank, as was my case.

When I arrived there, I realised that I'd found myself in one of the most consumerist cities on the planet, where time is gold, but actual gold. The people there run everywhere, not because they are in a rush or because they're late somewhere, but because it's their philosophy of life. Being productive in every sense of the word is what keeps them in the 'top ten' most efficient cities; because for them profitability is something fundamental in the development of their lives and in the attainment of their well-being.

That's why they call it the city that never sleeps; because you can get anything you want, 24 hours a day.

Frankly before making the trip, I thought the philosophy of life wasn't true, or at least, that it was exaggerated in most of the films. However as I told you, I realised the first time I got off the New York metro, that not only are the films telling the truth but cutting it short. I remember an image of 5 executives pelting towards the famous Quinta Avenida, weighed down by their briefcases when all of a sudden, they stopped at one of the typical hot dog kiosks (costing a dollar). Each executive bought one and returned again to pelting at full speed. Remember, for them, time is gold.

For example, the taxis represent a feature of this way of life; the theme of which I will talk about in my next article (anecdotes included).

I will leave you with a photo of what was one of the millions of hot dog stands that there are in the majority of Manhattan avenues.

PS: The hot dogs are from a pile. Even here, you can find a lot that tastes better.
