What is the student lifestyle like in Munich?

It's great for student. They can combine university and work and that is great. As a student you have more benefits, discounts on every ticket. Every young person there is a student.

How much does it cost to live in Munich?

It is very expensive. If you wanna go out somewhere to eat, or drink coffee prices are also big. But of course you can always find some places where the prices are let say ok.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Munich? Is there any advice you can give?

Well it is difficult. A lot of students are living together in a rented flat (3-4 in one flat). Prices for a flat are abnormal high (Munich is the most expensive city for accommodation in Europe! ) I found a woman and she rent me a room for acceptable price so I got lucky. Also for interns their University also can find accommodation in bungalows, and for one person or two it's ok to live in there for couple of months. Those bungalows are near Olympiapark and it's not so far away from Center (with U-bahn 10 minutes).

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is ok, although I like spicy food. Typical German food is not so spicy, it is I could say sweety (a typical Bavarian breakfast consists of white sausages, sweet mustard, brezel (pretzel) and wheatbier) but I eat everything so I don't have problems with that. Great thing is you have a lot of restaurants so I am sure anyone can find a food what they like to eat. And yes, beers are great!

What places would you recommend visiting in Munich?

  • Tierpark Hellabrun (zoo)
  • Marienplatz (center)
  • Bmw museum
  • Bmw welt
  • Olympiapark
  • Deutsches museum (big science museums, a lot to see)
  • Englischer garten (a big park where you can enjoy in a weather, do sports, relaxing, sitting in a Biergarten... )
  • Allianz Arena
  • Theresienwiese (Every year there is Octoberfest which you must see, milions of people all around world in one place, celebrating, haveing fun... )
  • Olympic Tower (great to see the whole Munich from it)

And a lot of other places.

Is it good to eat out in Munich? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes it is good you will always see a lot of people in restaurants, just the prices are high.

Is the nightlife good in Munich? Where is good to go?

Everyday you will see people outside having fun, doesn't matter is it Monday, or Saturday. The city is living! Very often there are concerts, partys... I would recommend Nachtgalerie, Willenlos, Ruby, Neuraum, Hofbrauhaus, Irish pub... There are too many clubs and what is great you can find clubs with kind of music you like to listen.

What advice would you give future students heading to Munich?

Munich is great for students, you can find there people all around world who are studying there. This city gives you opportunity to do whatever you want to do. It is easy to find a job (just you need to know German language, not perfect but for communication is important).

Everyone knows English which is great. This city has a system and everything is functioning without big problems. You can go from one part of Munich till another with Ubahn, Sbahn, train, bus... It is really well connected and not hard to learn. Just go, do what you need to do and of course leave some free time for yourself because there are a lot of places to see.

Enjoy!
