Experience in Munich, Germany by Claudia
What is it like to live in Munich? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
It's a beautiful, peaceful place, it's like a big city in its architecture and like a small town in its lifestyle, its customs. There's time to have friends and to share with them, there are lots of beautiful places, like the parks and the river. It has a tranquil atmosphere.
What is the student lifestyle in Munich?
Regarding the student lifestyle, I lived with a lot of migrants to learn German. I hope I'll get into the university soon.
How much does it cost to live in Munich?
In general, renting an apartment is the only thing that's a bit expensive. The food, getting around, clothing are all normally priced, I found it affordable.
Was it difficult to find accommodation in Munich? Do you have any advice?
At first, I stayed at a friend's house, I rented a room for 6 months, now I'm looking again, either to share an apartment or to sublet a room. A piece of advice, look on the Internet and social networks, and ask friends in advance.
What is the food like there? What are some of your favourite dishes?
I love anything sweet, the cured meats, the cheeses, sauerkraut, but I should be looking after my health and my figure, so I prefer to eat light food and lots of vegetables.
Where would you recommend to visit in Munich?
The museums, the parks, the Isar river, the Starnberg lake.
And to eat in Munich? What are some of your favourite places to go?
I really like the Virtual Market.
Do you have any advice for students coming to Munich in the future?
Enjoy everything, open your eyes and enjoy the green landscapes and the architecture.
