What is it like to live in Munich? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Munich is one of the nicest cities in Germany, even though every city or town in Germany looks more or less the same. Regarding Munich, it's big enough, has everything you need and I would definitely recommend it to live in.

What is the student lifestyle like in Munich?

Even though Munich is not that popular as a student city, it has very good and famous universities, such as TUM. Everything is well organised and arranged for students coming from different parts of the world. The biggest problem is finding accommodation, but that is wide-spread and doesn't affect only students.

How much does it cost to live in Munich?

Even though it is very expensive, if you have some scholarship or even if you find some part time job, it is possible.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Munich? Is there any advice you can give?

It's extremely hard to find an accommodation in Munich, but it's not impossible. You have to be very patient and to send as many questions as possible. Also, it's better to already be in the city when contacting people.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is very tasty, even though I don't prefer traditional kitchen. The things I liked are pretzels, gingerbread with icing and some other sweets.

What places would you recommend visiting in Munich?

That depends on what are you interested in. If you like museums - there are dozens in Munich. No matter which you choose, you won't make a mistake. If you like nature and enjoy being outside, you should definitely go to the English Garden. If you like cars, some of the many car museums like BMW, Mercedes or Maybach are there. There are many castles as well, and of course the Marienplatz.

Is it good to eat out in Munich? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Quite good, but very expensive. The cheapest places to eat are around student dorms and university. Also, cheap but not that healthy are big american chains like Mc Donalds, Burger King an so on.

Is the nightlife good in Munich? Where is good to go?

Nightlife is more or less good. Me personally, I don't prefer it. I used to go out to some student parties which were total disaster. It's always better to go out in some restaurant and eat some good food for the money you will spend in a night club.

What advice would you give future students heading to Munich?

Be well prepared coming to Munich- not concerning your safety, because it is quite safe here but concerning money. At the beginning, if you're not familiar with the cost of living, you will spend a lot of money unnecessarily which you can avoid if you just plan ahead.
