Experience in Munich, Germany, by Luisa
What is it like to live in Munich? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Negative
- Munich is a very very expensive city. It's very important to find a flat there, and even if you have the luckiness and find one, it's very expensive. So really overthink this and don't go to Munich without safety in money or with less time to search for an accodomation. You will need much time, much patience and much money!
I'm sad to say, but the people of Munich are not the nicest. Many people are arrogant or simply reserved and it's not easy to find contact. I didn't have this problem because I was born in Munich and live there since child, but I heard from many students/people who came new here that they didn't find good friends since 3 years or similiar experiences. So you really must trie hard and take a big effort if you want to feel comfortable.
- Many tourists come to Munich, so if you dont like masses of people this probably will nerve you. Besides, munich is a big city so there will always be many people, there aren't really places where you are alone.
Positive
- The city itself is really beautiful, there are many old houses and beautiful buildings, also the nature is great. For example the giant english garden in summer is a popular trip target.
- In Summer you can go to the "Biergarten", an special habitude in Bavaria and really nice.
- Also in Munich there are many different cultural offers and institutions, its very diverse and multifaceted,
- The level of the universities and schools are also very high and great accepted.
