Erasmus Experience in Munich, Germany by Gaurav

Why did you choose to go to Munich, Germany?

I was selected for an internship for a research experience of 2 months.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

The scholarship was DAAD- WISE and it was for 2 months. It was somewhere around 550 Euros per month. Apart from this airfare was also provided.

What is the student lifestyle like in Munich?

Plenty of opportunities to explore and also ample scope from entertainment point of you.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Munich to other students?

Yes, definitely.

What is the food like?

It is difficult if you are vegetarian. Otherwise, it is good for non-vegetarians.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Munich?

It cost me a lot of time as it is very difficult to find accomodation in Munich.

How much does it cost to live in Munich?

300-350 Euros per month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I have not done any courses.I was there just for a project.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Munich from your city?

Public transport is the best option.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Munich?

There are any bars and pubs. You can choose any.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Munich?

Depends on your taste but I would suggest that try different restaurants.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Opera house, Deutsche Museum, Beer garden.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Munich in the future?

It is very safe city even during nights and you should visit this city atleast once.
