What is it like to live in Mumbai? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Mumbai is a city that never sleeps. It is a place where you can walk out at 3 in the night and still find great street food and safe local transportation. It is easy to find many places in Mumbai open till 2 am. Cheap transports like taxi's and the very Mumbai "autorickshaw" to take you home. It's crowded and the traffic is bad... However, it is warm and full of amazing people, sights and sounds. I have lived in Mumbai for 22 years and I loved every second of it.

What is the student lifestyle like in Mumbai?

Mumbai is full of students. Majority of the population is students. Make sure you arrange for your accommodation close to your college cause daily travel can be a pain.. Mumbai is a huuuge city and it is easy for you to take more than 1.5 - 2 hrs to travel (one way) daily if you live far away... Life as a student in Mumbai is awesome...

How much does it cost to live in Mumbai?

Apart from rent, you can live a grand life in 250-350 euros.. Add a rent close to 250-300 euros... provided you rent an apartment alone...

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Mumbai? Is there any advice you can give?

Most b-schools have their own hostels that are not expensive, ask your college if you can avail that.. Renting an apartment varies widely with location... It can range from 200-500 euros per month depending on your choice.. It is best to ask help from your college in Mumbai.. Even when you rent, there are plenty of options available to share apartments with other students.. Be sure to ensure that you get housing done before you leave for Mumbai..

You can taste all the flavors of India in mumbai... Mumbai is known for its street food.. Try Samosa's, Pav Bhaji and chaat... You will have numerous south indian restaurants in Mumbai which are sort of "Fast Food" joints... (all vegetarian.. No egg or fish either..)
Apart from that, you can visit classic restaurants like delhi darbar and pretty much any place in Colaba (a part of Mumbai) to have a nice meal.. You will also find many chinese, italian and even a few french cafe's in Mumbai (Le Pain quotidien).. But you might find it a bit different in taste... Overall, there are literally thousands of restaurnts in Mumbai... Just walk inside whatever looks good to you :)
