What is it like to live in Mumbai? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

For outstation students, it might be a challenge getting used to this big city, but once you get used to the roads and weather, there's a lot this city has to offer.
Would absolutely recommend it.

What is the student lifestyle like in Mumbai?

It is very easy to navigate around Mumbai, as public transport is present and easily accessible. The local trains enable us to move about the city in a cheaper, efficient and faster way.

How much does it cost to live in Mumbai?

Depending on your type of lifestyle and the area you rent out a PG/flat in, it could cost you between 50,000-1,00,000 INR/month.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Mumbai? Is there any advice you can give?

It is not difficult to find accommodation, depending on your lifestyles and area of college and residence, there's a lot of variety to choose from.
If it is tough, there are a few websites that could help you out.

1. www.olx.com
2.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The variety of food that Mumbai offers cannot be compared to another city.
Considering India is a secular country, it houses people belonging to various religions which offer various cuisines and delicacies and gives you a different experience every time you go out.
I am vegetarian, as compared to a non-vegeration eating meat, and there are a lot of eateries in the city that offer Veg only food, which makes it convenient and comfortable for us.

What places would you recommend visiting in Mumbai?

There are a lot of pubs and bars, for people wanting to enjoy the nightlife that Mumbai has to offer.
There are spots for sightseeing, eg., Marine Drive and Worli Seaface for a peaceful evening, to explore, Elepanta and Ajanta Caves, boating at Gateway of India, near Taj, Colaba, and there are lot of cafes in and around Colaba for a beer in the evening or for snacks/meals.

Is it good to eat out in Mumbai? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Mumbai as a city, takes pride in its eateries and restaurants.
You will never run out of options for new places as well as new dishes to try out.
I like trying out new places, so I do not usually go the same place twice, as I am a resident of the city and am still finding new places to grab a bite.

Is the nightlife good in Mumbai? Where is good to go?

Nightlife is great for those who enjoy it.
For me, personally, drinking in pubs playing loud music is not my scene.
But if you check on zomato.com, your phone will be flooded with a list of places closest to you.

What advice would you give future students heading to Mumbai?

Mumbai is a beautiful city - explore every street as it has something new and the people here are helpful and understand that it is easy to get lost in this city; and have fun.
Good luck :)
