Mumbai is probably the only city in India where one can experience all the cultures that exist in India. You can find multiple regional cuisines, festivals and people from all walks in life.
What is the student lifestyle like in Mumbai?
For a student, the basic necessities are of prime importance. Mumbai will help you with all of it. From accommodation to resources one can find it all and at a reasonable price.
How much does it cost to live in Mumbai?
As a student, your major expense will be accommodation. Considering that along with food and other resources your basic expedition will be under 20,000 INR.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Mumbai? Is there any advice you can give?
It varies on the location where you are seeking accommodation. Many places offer student shared apartments. Try looking for them online and confirm once you have been to the place in person.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
The cuisine varies to such an extent that you will probably need a month-long restaurant hoping to try them all. There is a website/app called Zomato that will help you find places as per your need. Personally, I would recommend one to try the street food of Mumbai. It costs efficient and will provide you a great variety. Also, do try Parsi and Sea Food of Mumbai.
What places would you recommend visiting in Mumbai?
Apart from the usual tourist stops, there are various other places close to Mumbai such as Elephanta Caves, Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Do try to walk around South Mumbai and Bandra. You will definitely find great spots and sunset at Marine Drive.
Is it good to eat out in Mumbai? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Mumbai has a lot of food options. Street food in Mumbai is the best way to explore the city. However, do try to visit Britannia and Company (a restaurant ran by the fourth generation), Bombay to Barcelona Cafe, Cannon Pav Bhaji, Mamledaar Missal.
Is the nightlife good in Mumbai? Where is good to go?
More than being known as a city of dreams, Mumbai is a city that never sleeps. Walk at 3 in the morning and you will find someone selling tea or snacks down the street. If you are a party enthusiast there are multiple spots for you to party have good drinks and conversation.
What advice would you give future students heading to Mumbai?
Don't stay at your accommodation after college hours. Try to get out as much as possible. Explore the city as it will definitely surprise you every time. Be careful as well.
