Inspired by the south of France
Montpellier is a magic place, with all the peace of a small city but the facilities of a big one. The downtown can be walked thousand of times and one will never get tired of it. The architecture is envolving with the environment of the French Mediterranean.
The sorroundings are beautiful, there are a lot of towns and natural areas to visit and it is quite easy to arrive there. Besides, you might find most of the time a friendly weather in all the zone.
The gastronomy is good, as the famous French food is well known, however, as student is quite difficult to try it often since the prices are quite high. Still, it's possible to try local food from time to time to pamper yourself with something special.
Studying in Montpellier was a bit hard, the level for engineer is high and it demans a big effort to achieve, nevertheless it's worth doing it. The experience one could get is enriching and formative. Also, the residences are good, but you should be fast to get a place since Montpellier is an attractive destination for students.
For party, I would not classify as the best place. As an small city, the central places close early and you should go far to find some clubs. Nevertheless, the bars are quite chilling and the service is quite good. Just try not to pick the bars in the touristic street, some blocks ahead there are enough to find good places with good prices and service.
Also, the transport is good. For young studends the monthly card is very usefull, then in allows to travel in the whole city for a fair price. All the city is well connected by the TRAM, moreover, the buses can be useful to reach specific points of the city.
Montpellier is magic, you won't regret of living there, if you have the opportunity, take it and have fun.
