warning scammers in Lisbon students flat (LISBON4U)

Hi!

I am a student from Alicante, Spain, that had got the Erasmus for studying at ISCTE this first semester. I had some personal trouble so I had to decline the opportunity. I went to Lisbon in September and then I knew I could not stay.

This message is to warn you and future exchange students about a rental company I had (and I am still having) trouble with. They are Lisbon4u, and they owe me the deposit money (295€) since the 2nd of September.

When I arrived in Lisbon I already had a room booked with this company. Everything went right and I got my room, paid for the deposit and signed the rental agreement.

Two days after that I knew I could not stay longer, so I told the company and left Lisbon quickly.

I assumed I would lose the first month payment, but I told them I was waiting for the deposit back.

At the beginning they put a lot of trouble in recognizing my right to get the deposit back, although it was very clear in the contract.

At the end of September they told me it was okay and that they would pay me at the beginning of October. At mid October I did not receive any money so I wrote them and had no answer. I tried again 3 more times, and at last I called them, so they sent me an email saying (again) that they did not have to pay me and they addressed me to their lawyer.

So I look for a lawyer and she sent them a burofax and an email requesting that they must answer in 7 days. We had no answer to this, neither to the others emails we have sent.

I do not know what to do. I assume I have lost this deposit as I am treating with professional scammers.

Therefore I thought all I could do is warn about them, so this will not happen to other students.
