Why did you choose to go to Lisbon, Portugal?

Because I wanted to live in a warm country with a city that is close to the ocean.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

The scholarship is 3. 5 months long, and I received approx. 10, 000 SEK from Erasmus to help me with my living costs.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Lisbon to other students?

Yes, I would! I especially love the city and everything around it.

What is the food like?

The food is good. The classical Portuguese food is not very good I would say, but there is a lot to choose from in the city.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Lisbon?

No, it did not cost me to find the accommodation in Lisbon.

How much does it cost to live in Lisbon?

Rent costs approx. 500-700 euro/month, and living/eating is much cheaper. I would say around 1000euros/month in total (including rent).

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

There are language courses available in the school. The language is kind of difficult to understand. It is much easier if you have been studying Spanish before.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Lisbon from your city?

From my hometown in Sweden, the only way to travel is by plane I would say.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Lisbon?

Barrio Alto, there are lots of nice bars here.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Lisbon?

Boa Bao (Asian), Pistola y Corazón (Mexican), Palacio Chiado (a collection of different restaurant inside a cool old building).

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Just wandering around the city looking at all the colourful buildings!

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Lisbon in the future?

Go surfing!
