What is it like to live in Lisboa? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I've been living in Lisbon since I was born so I know all the down sides of living here. This is not the most clean city of all but we have good food, good open spaces, good gardens, good people and the weather is great.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lisboa?

We have a lot of university spirit. We help one another in and out of the classroom, we have study groups and we have traditions that no other country has that you only understand if you live it.

How much does it cost to live in Lisboa?

Rooms are about 400 euros with all included. If you need transport to move around the city you can do it by bus and metro that is 35, 45€/ month. The food department really depends on what you eat but make it 150/200€ per month with superficial stuff included and one or two nights out for month.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Lisboa? Is there any advice you can give?

You can find a room in Lisbon in websites and the university usually has a list with options that you can use.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

You will not find better food than Portuguese food. It's awesome. We need to try "cozido à portuguesa", "feijoada", "bacalhau", everything.

What places would you recommend visiting in Lisboa?

The old part of town it's essencial, Castelo de S. Jorge, Rossio e Baixa Chiado, Bairro Alto. You can go to Belém and Parque das Nações.

Is it good to eat out in Lisboa? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

That are small places where the food it's amazing and not to much expensive but you need a local to tell you. You need to try at least one place to eat fish like "marisqueira de Roma", to other kind of food you have "Gravatas" for gourmet burgers you have "Honorato" and "Hamburgueria do Bairro". To eat ice cream made in Portugal you can have it in Emanha.

Is the nightlife good in Lisboa? Where is good to go?

This is a city that has everykind of music and the night can end by 2 am, 4 am, 6 am or even at 12 am if you want to. There is a lot of discos in Cais do Sodré. Europa is more like techno, electro music and for after hours party. Jamaica has a 80's music. Tokio has life music and 80's music.

Then you have Urban, LUX, "Meninos do Rio", Main, Lust. These are diferente kind of discos with diferent kind of music but all have an amazing space and décor.

What advice would you give future students heading to Lisboa?

Study, meet people, party, enjoy everything that this city have too offer you.
